What would you choose?

Hi Guys

I'm after your advice, I celebrate 25 years service with my company this year and I need your help on what to choose for my gift. I get as standard either a dinner at a nice resturant for myself and family and close friends or a small party for myself and all my collegues old and new.

Than my real dilemma, I can choose a piece of jewellery up to £500 or I can have holiday vouchers.

I do like jewellery and it would be nice to have something to remind me of my time with the company, but I do LOVE my holidays and £500 in vouchers would come in very handy for Vicki and I to celebrate in Florida.

What do you think??

Personally I'd go with the vouchers. Then you and Vicki can both enjoy the gift and you'll both get so many happy memories that you know your long time of hard work earned. I'd be honest with yourself as to how often you'd wear a piece of jewelly as well, you might be a regular wearer but I know if I got it it would spend most of it's life sat in it's case so it didn't get lost.

Congratulations on the 25 years with the company. That is some going, it sounds like they appreciate people who are loyal to them.

I am on my way to 11 years and all they do is threaten us with being surplus to requirements

Congratulations on your 25 years with the company!! I love jewellery also but if it was me I would choose the vouchers!! As Queenie says, ask yourself how much you will wear the jewellery!!

I'd go for the party with colleagues as you can eat with your family anytime and I'd definitely go with the vouchers - seems everyone is saying the same but your memories and photos will be a great reminder to keep afterwards. That would certainly make me happier than a piece of jewellery but in the end it's got to be your choice and what would make YOU happy - you're the one who's earned it!!

Congratulations on 25 years Sue That is very generous of your company, at ours you get £100 of John Lewis vouchers! but I guess even that is better than nothing!

Personally, I would go with the vouchers but buy something very special in Disney that would always remind me of both the holiday and the 25 years

Hi Guys

Thanks very much for your responses, you only confirmed what my heart has been telling me to do, and go with the vouchers. As a lot of you have said, I can always buy a nice piece of Jewellery over there.

So I have decided to have a party with my colleges old and new, as it will be great to see some of my old friends who I have not seen for a long time, and I am going to go with the vouchers, after all, when I was single, married and espescally since being divorced I have worked hard so that Vicki and I can have our wonderful holidays in Florida and it will be nice to think the vouchers go some way to paying for another trip.

Thanks to you all once again for the congratulations, it is actually 25 years this coming October, but the company has asked me to think about it now.
