I think DH is coming around to the idea of DLP Christmas weekend (finally). I have just been pricing up some hotels with 2 night free offer which is available on our dates.

4 nights 5 days

Sequioa Lodge Golden Forest room

Hotel New York for £10 less

New Port Bay Admirals floor for another £22 less

View rooms don't bother us I don't want to pay more just to see the lake. But would pay more for space, location or privileges.

We have stayed at them all before but I love SL at Christmas it is just beautiful. I love the location of NY (of course DLH would be the best but that is over £1,000 for 4 nights isn't in our budget) I always love idea of NPB but the size always puts me off.

That's a toughie... Hard to say between ny and gf... My issues wud be with golden forest not living up to what ppl expect, but everyone says how lovely it is at Xmas.... Whereas New York is closer, but not as xmassy....

The walk wud b obviously shorter to ny, but wud u walk or bus it??

I'm no use am I?? Lol. If ur like me, u want to have a nice treat, but find it hard to justify the money.... Lol xx

We don't use the bus I would rather walk then wait so location is important to us. Yeah the reviews of GF rooms are so disappointing. I was also considering booking a montana room save the £82 and have breakfast at DLH every morning. Too many choices!

We have just been trying to make the same decision! We've just booked the Golden Forest room for next September, I've also read the bad reviews but I really think/hope that they are teething problems and will be well sorted out before our trip. I'm not bothered about the lounge being the breakfast room, we booked it because we want the character breakfast and the daily fast pass x

I wouldn't book GF for 2 characters at breakfast and one fastpass per day, but thats just me :confused3.

I honestly don't like the look of the lounge either.

But I would love to stay at the Sequoia Lodge at Christmas, so I'd probably go for Sequoia Lodge non-GF room.

Yeah... Do that n pay for dlh breakfast!!!! Everyone does say sequoia is the best for Xmas...

I hope the issues with the GF is sorted soon, if it is then I would probably go for that if not then HNY:goodvibes

We're staying at HNY this Christmas season, we've always wanted to try it and the price was fab :thumbsup2

Our original plan had been to stay at SL, we've stayed at christmas before and it is an amazing hotel to be in at Christmas! :santa:

I would honestly say stay at the Sequoia, GF or not.

As you can see, I'm mad about Sequoia... there's simply nothing like it at Christmas, sitting in the bar after a hard day and watching the fire with a nice cocktail. pixiedust:

I'm rather worried about GF myself as we've booked it for when we go in 3 weeks time, I honestly think the GF rooms were more of a plan to get people to pay more for guaranteed lakeside.

Not all GF rooms are lakeside just incase you did not know........

Due to being a larger family, we've not stayed at any of them....but I love the look of the Sequoia Lodge at Christmas. So cozy :goodvibes

I vote for SL...we went for our (American) Thanksgiving break last year and it was all decorated for Christmas and just perfect. Sitting by the fire when it's chilly out with the decorations and trees all lit up....

<sigh> :cloud9:

Have there been lots of bad gf reviews then? I've only seen the one from Tigger137 that seems to be repeated everywhere. Fair point on that one that people who haven't paid shouldnt be able to spoil the experience for those who have, but the rest of the complaints were all subjective IMO.

Also, the lounge not having sofas is common elsewhere ,e. we stayed in the grand floridian concierge and that didn't really have sofas, so I wouldn't let that bother me.

For us, its costing £80 more than a normal room, and we'll probably get that back with two rounds of drinks each per day at dlp prices.

Also, the untimed (usually) breakfasts and the bonus fastpasses are what attracts us - Iprefer the sequoia at christmas to the ny.

We had exactly the same decision and have decided to stay with the gf. :)

having stated my preference for SL earlier in the thread, I'd also just like to point out that I spent a fair bit of time in the HNY public areas last time we were at DLP for Christmas season, and I loved the theme there for Christmas - yellow cabs decorations on the Christmas tree in the lobby etc - very cool :goodvibes.

I still think that roaring log fire in the SL could be the balance-tipper.

I'd definitely rule Newport Bay out of the equation. We loved our stay there last summer but IMO it's a hotel for the summer months, not for the winter.

I think if it were me I'd go for Sequoia, I'm sure the GF teething problems will be sorted out by then.

Ok I think it will either be a SL non GF or a HNY now DH isn't bothered by any option said it is just a hotel lol. He is so wrong!!!!!!!!

We went last year and stayed SL for Christmas. We were there for 2 nights arriving on the 1st December. After our visit people were saying they had a Christmas package offered to them. I would love this :D and think I would prefer this over GF room any way. I hope they do it again this year.

I was just thinking maybe go for Christmas room at HNY.. I know it not the answer you asked just the opposite:lmao: but if you can afford why not...

Rooms decorated for Christmas will be available only at the Disneyland Hotel and the Disney's Hotel New York during the upcoming Christmas season. The rooms will be decorated with a Christmas tree, various decorations and you'll also receive many gifts. This service will pay and must be requested when booking your stay

Ah thank you. Think you just decided for me ;)

We were in the exact same position about what to chose, in the end we decided the price for HNY was too good to pass so we've booked there for November.

We were thinking about the Christmas rooms but looking at the price and what you get for it (we saw what one person had who booked this last year) we've decided to take a tiny tree and some gifts and set it up before the kids go in the room :goodvibes

We won't get to the room till gone 10pm so I can't make DD wait any longer. Plus only traveling with hand luggage. How much was it I haven't even looked yet. But have decided that's what I want ha ha
