So....we own 400 pts. (2 x 200) at BCV and love it. But now we're thinking of an add-on. What resort would you choose as a "second" and why? The only must for us is GV availability at 11 months.

How about SSR? They will have GV. Or OKW - they have the most GV.

Really what you need to decide is how much you want to spend on that grand villa and whether it would be worth it to you to spend more to stay in the Epcot resort area. If the answer is yes, it's a no brainer... BWV. If the answer is no, then you have to decide btwn OKW and SSR... How important is the pool?

Good question Lisa F. With SAB, we haven't given pools much thought, but we do love themed pools. The new Poly pool and WL pools are great too. We've never tried the GF. Hmmm. Definitely something to think about. The SSR pool is supposed to be very nice. SSR is looking better. What about you OKW fans? Any thoughts?

I'm not an OKW fan (it's my last choice resort) but their GV's have got to be the best bang for the buck in the world of GV's. I have to say that if BWV were not a choice and I were going to be buying a contract exclusively to use GV's, OKW would be my choice. Of course, there IS the BWV so luckily I don't have to make that choice ;).

THE choice is obvious OKW. Where else in the DVC system can u get a 2300 Square Feet grand villa, for 180-255 points, for the sunday-Thursday nights.

BOARDWALK AND SSR&S GRNAD VILLAS require dramactically more points

am i misssing something, what will SSR&S, have that OKW, does not have, that is worth, much more point usage???

What about availability of GV's at 11 months. Wouldn't that be a consideration? Is it pretty much open at 11 months, or would it still a difficult reservation at the DVC resorts? I know that OKW has the most but they also have more owners with more points.
I don't know the answer but maybe with the more expensive points, there are more smaller contracts and since OKW is less expensive point and maint. wise there is more competition for the GV's at 11 months.

Better pool,Better proximity to DTD,a fireworks viewing deck, spa, indoor hallways, elevators in all buildings, upscale foodcourt and shopping, 50 year contract.
I love OKW but can book in there anytime and unlike many others I don't think it will ever be hard. I think SSR is going to attract a younger demographic and be a livlier resort.I am happy to add it to my Home resorts.
What you are missing is we are all individuals and what some may like ,others may not. Get it now?

OKW resale. Largest resort, largest units, most number of GV, lowest maintenance fees, lowest number of points needed, laid back atmosphere, condo cluster layout, Olivia's, Boat to DD.

Well, this depends... Are you ruling out VB and HH???
Personally I treasure my VB points, and I couldn't imagine DVC without them...

Not sure how ofter you'll be using the GV, but I believe the BWV GV's cost more than OKW or SSR. Since you've already got lots of points in the Epcot area, I don't see much point of going for BWV.

That leaves OKW vs. SSR.... My pick would be SSR: More stuff, cool location, and a longer contract make this a winner.

If you are doing an add on specifically to get GVs, I would do OKW since it costs less points and is easier to get at the 11 month window than at BWV, and if far fewer points than SSR.

If you love BCV - I am sure how you would feel about OKW - there are very different....

OKW is more like the other timeshares - very big rooms - lots of space - parking is close (but you won't generally see a parking lot) - views are pretty great!!!!

however bus transportation to all the parks - you can walk, bus or boat to DD. but that is it.

SSR smaller rooms more points - but you are used to smaller rooms (like BCV) - so I would say if you can afford it BWV.

use your current points and stay at OKW, BWV and SSR - you don't have to stay in the GV - but I would suggest staying at the resort before you purchase alot of points. Or you could call your guide and ask to see the GV at all 3 places - or call the front desk at each resort and ask to see the GV at each place - if they have one free they will let you see it.

BWV would be the only place where you might have a problem - they only have 5 so they are pretty busy - BWV require alot more points. but as I say it might be what you want.

I would also go look at VWL (yes I know it does not have a GV) but neither does BCV - it is a beautiful resort - you can always do a 2-bedroom with a 1-bedroom or a studio to be able to sleep 12 there. If your family loves the MK then VWL is the only choice.

Are you thinking you will be useing the GV frequently? I guess I mean like every other year or every third year. If that is your goal, I don't see why you would want to add on at another resort in the same general area as your home resort when the points for a GV are so much more. I also would look at resale. A smaller contract would be very nice for the GVs if you don't plan to need one every year. At OKW a week in a GV during Adventure season is only 356 points! Only 180 for 5 nights and 268 for 6 nights. You could easily do a 150 point add on resale and have enough to stay every third year. In fact, you could even stay a week in dream seaon for that, if you used it every third year.

I agree Maistre Gracey.............but if you want access to a GV on WDW property I would go for a re-sale at OKW.
