ennui and vitriol are impossible...especially if I see them in writing. What words trip you up?

Szechuan.

Well - a Chinese friend taught me how to pronounce it in Mandarin, and I find it easier to pronounce it that way.

There's no accurate way to do the proper phonetic Latin alphabet translation though. Sichaun is more accurate. The way I've heard it said by someone from China is closer to Sih-tran. I can't really describe how it's supposed to be pronounced other than it has to be done with air blowing through the teeth during the tail end of the first syllable and the front end of the second syllable.

specific or specifically. I can say it but it hurts my ears when others say pacific instead, no p anywhere in either one..

I can't think of them off the top of my head. But there are words that I pronounce correctly in my head but I just can't get them out correctly.

Of course, there was the time I forgot how to say satisfaction. I was singing "I can't get no satisfaction," and pronounced it "satis-fa-cation". o_O

I can't say
Deposited It
Credited It

I was a stutterer as a young child and those words cannot come out of my mouth without sounding like: "Depositedededed It"

I have a hard time with "Grand Floridian." Usually comes out more like "Gland Foridian."

Also, "atherosclerosis." Once, I was discussing this issue with our veterinarian, and I went all Porky Pig on it - athelo... athlero... er, hardening of the arteries.

I am watching a show with Christiane Amanpour and I cannot pronounce her name properly. I keep messing up the placement of the m and the n, and then tripping over it mid-way through after realizing something is off. I have totally stopped telling people about the show because I just butcher this poor woman's name.

I often say hardening of the arteries too. Another one for me is arteritis for some reason I want to pronounce it arthritis... sigh.

I struggle with the the words municipal/municipality.

If I read it, my inclination is to triple the N —mun-ninc-ipal. If I just have to speak it without reading it, it comes out correct.

Also, we live in Worcester County. And I think I’ve heard Worcester prounounced about a million ways and I have no idea which one is correct!

Aristocracy - I want to combine the word w/ "aristocrat" for some reason into something like "aristocratsy"

Horror

Rural

And I'm sure there are others!

aluminum I can say it in my head perfectly, but when it comes out its just a mess of letters!
