I always have to look up the word restaurant to make sure that I'm spelling it correctly. What one word do you always have problems spelling?

Anything that has an 'i' and an 'e' next to each other. Example: niece. As I'm typing this, I'm still not even sure if I'm spelling it right :D

I can't spell it, so I can't tell you!:p

Restaurant and vacuum are biggies for me. And I doubt they're spelled right here.

I agree with niece/neice and nausous(???). Also, abdomen...is that right? I cant say the word so Im sure I cant spell it. I just says abs.

I have many.

I remember niece though. I say, "I have a nIce nIece."

When you are like me you have to do tricks. :o :teeth:

For the "i" "e" problem, always remember, "i" before "e" except after "c". Don't ask me why i remember that. Spelling was my favorite subject in high school but i still have trouble with vacuum (is it two c's or two u's, lol) and restaurant is another one i have to spell slowly. Glad to see i'm not the only one!

For the "i" "e" problem, always remember, "i" before "e" except after "c".

I before E except after C or when pronounced as "ay" as in "neighbour" and "weigh".

But even that is misleading, as "ei" has many other pronunciations, as in, for
instance, "height", "heifer", and "forfeit". The rule also fails to
apply to names (Sheila, Keith, Leigh, etc.).

Some more exceptions:
beige, codeine, conscience, deify, deity, deign, dreidel, eight, either, feign, feisty, foreign, forfeit, freight, heifer, heigh-ho, height, heinous, heir, heist, neighbor, neither, rein, science, seismic, seize, sheik, society, sovereign, veil, vein, weight, weird

business.. and beautiful. never have been able to spell those and my degree is in agricultural business..lol.. can do it but cant spell it..lol

suRprise
dilemma
interesting

My students always spell it intresting.

I always screw up separate....I spell it seperate sometimes.

One I've noticed many have a problem with is disappointed. It's not dissapointed.
