Personally, I'm with EthansMom. I'll use any refund toward our 2006 IRA contributions for me and DW. It won't cover the whole thing but it will help.

We always try to adjust withholding to minimize our refund but I'm not sure what will happen this year. DW went back to work in '05 after being a SAHM for 10 years so I don't know how things will play out at tax time. But in general, I'd rather have the money in my check every month than lend it to Uncle Sam interest-free for a year.

We have no dependents and make too much money. Even with adjustments to our W-4 and 401K withholding last year, we are going to owe about $2300.

Misty, if you fill out a new w4, have them take out extra each week (I think it's line 6 on the form). Being flat on taxes is better than paying! That was the advice my mom gave me the first year I had to pay state taxes. So I figured how much my liability was, divided it by 26 and the next year, didn't have to pay again!

I received the state book and forms the other day and yay for me!! it looks like they made it more complicated to complete. I do my taxes myself, it's fun for some reason. I guess I like punishing myself in some way lol

We never get back from the state, we always end up owing a couple of hundred.

As for Federal, we don't get back much. I will put it into the savings to pay for our life insurance premiums that are due in July.
