Are people still over paying so they will get money back? I've never understood that.

My DW and I fought about this for years. She likes to think of it as forced savings. I needed to convince her that it's a government loan. I managed a few years ago to convince her to at least line things up so we have a much smaller refund than in the past.

We do the same thing. We usually get back less than $2000. I call that breaking even. We have to file SC & NC since we work in separate states as well as federal. Typically we have to pay a little on at least one of the states and get back a little on the other and get back a little on the federal.

Dunno. I usually break even. This year is unusual in that I had a large tax deduction at the end of the year that my employer didn't adjust my salary deductions for, so it will result in a refund.

I with you. We try to set it up so we owe as much as we can without paying a penalty.
