What will you read?

I'm having a horrible time getting into Wool Omnibus. Horrible. And it's been recommended by many, so I keep trying, but I just can't seem to get going on it.

I'm an avid reader (I shoot for 10,000 pages a year) and am always looking for new books! I have a backlog of about 25-30 on my Kindle at any given time.

I just finished "What Alice Forgot" by Liane Moriarty and really enjoyed it - it was different.

I've been trying to clean out my "to read" file, so some of my recently reads are not recently released. That might help, for those looking for books at the library.

Other books I've read this year:
The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
The Last Runaway by Tracy Chevalier (fairly new)
Life of Pi by Yann Martel

From previous years, my top recommendations:
Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple
The Cat's Table by Michael Onjaatje (but maybe not on a cruise.....)
Finding Nouf and City of Veils by Zoe Ferraris
Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
South of Broad by Pat Conroy
Skeletons at the Feast by Chris Bohjalian
The Postmistress by Sarah Blake
Noah's Compass by Anne Tyler
The Kitchen Boy by Robert Alexander
The Dive from Claussen's Pier by Ann Packer

If you're looking for lighter reads, I really enjoy Emily Giffin. If you're looking for fast reads, I think Kristin Hannah books fly by - for me anyway.

Hope this helps! I could go on and on about books! Can't wait to see what else people recommend.

You like a lot of the same books I do. Have you read Language Of Flowers. I read it last summer. It and The Help were my two favorite of last year.

The Language of Flowers is in my "to read" pile. Maybe I'll read that next now that it gets a good recommendation!

I, too, enjoyed The Help. I read it back in 2009 when it was first published.

On my last vacation, I devoured Gone Girl and then Where Did You Go Bernadette? The first kept me at the edge of my seat with a great story, the second had me laughing out loud, another great read.

Love to read recommendations from people that love similar books!

Another vote for Gone Girl!! Also throwing in The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman (or anything by Alice Hoffman:thumbsup2). Happy sailing!!

just picked up outlander. thanks for the suggestion, looks like it will take me a while to go through the whole series so will fill up a few hours.
