I can't tell you how many times we've been to MK, MGM, and AK, but we haven't been to Epcot since the kids were babies. What do your elementary school aged kids like to do at Epcot? Can you fill a whole day here? Is it as fun for the kids as the other parks?

Thanks for you help! :sunny:

PS- do your kids have a favorite place to eat at Epcot?

My daughter always hated EPCOT, for the longest time I would have to drag her there... but then one day she started loving it, she always buys a pearl oyster in Japan, thats her favourite souvenier. :)

We usually get funnel cakes from near the American Pavillion, Norway ride is a corny favourite... Test Track & Mission Space and honey I shrunk the audience.

We did the ice cream social which was a good break on a hot day.

Have fun! tell them they need a stamp in every country and they will be dragging you around.

With 5 kids ages-16, 15, 13, 10, 8...it can hard to keep them all happy. They do all love EPCOT however and will do just about anything. Almost 17 yo did do the movies and would often choose to sit out. That had more to do with cellphoning girlfriend. My younger ones like everything as much as older ones. I think you could def. fill an entire day without too many complaints. Have fun. :sunny:

I have 3 kids -- 8, 10, 11 -- Epcot is the 2 older boys' favorite park; for my daughter it is a close second (after MK); AK is third, then MGM.

At Epcot they LOVE future world, but are not too keen on the World Showcase (like the Troll Ride there -- and the food  ).

They enjoy:

Soarin (went on 4 times)
Test Track (went on 5 times)
Club Cool (free soda) -- usually stop every time we go past
Universe of Energy
Journey into Your Imagination (Figment is a favorite) -- email a "morphed" photo of yourself afterwards
Turtle Talk with Crush
Spaceship Earth (multiple times)
Innoventions -- they can keep occupied in here for awhile with the games and activties

You can definately fill a day!

Last year we went for the first time, my DD was 6. She LOVED test track and Soarin'. We didn't make it on Mission Space. It was during the flower festival and she loved the butterfly pavilion and playing in the water fountains that come up from the ground!!! (Bring some dry clothes for that - we had to buy a beach towel at one of the gift shops) The ride by Norway was fun (though corny) and the Living Seas was great - loved Turtle Talk with Crush.

DD was 8 when we were there. She loved most the the things in Future World: Living Seas, Mission Space, Test Track... and she did enjoy some of the pavillions in World Showcase... BUT got pretty tired of the "educational aspect" quickly. She did really enjoy Mexico and England.

my 7 DD and 5 DS liked epcot. My DS liked soaring and test track, as well as the games after mission space. They loved that they went into the "ball". My DD liked the countries and some of the more educational rides. The one thing my 5 year old hated though was "honey I shrunk the audience". the 3D gets a bit scary in parts.

My DD also got to have lunch with the princesses at Norway. Here is a hint: If you show up around 2:30, they usually can seat you even if you did not make a reservation. She saw 5 princesses.!
The kids also liked making the masks and adding to them in all the countries. Other ride areas also have "art projects".

My 7 and 9 years old girls LOVE Epcot!

Spend some time in Innoventions. They love the new FireSafety game and Business game. I can't remember the actual names. The entire family can play and they are really fun!

Love: Hate:
Living with the Land.
Soarin
Test Track
Mission Space
Figment ride
Spaceship Earth
Crush
IceStationCool
Illuminations
American Adventure...The Voices of Liberty are AWESOME and very nice!

OK:
Universe of Energy
Mexico ride
Norway ride

I don't have kids, but I did see a bunch of kids riding Mission Space and Test Track......I also saw alot of kids visiting the countries getting passports signed and making crafts....

EPCOT is my favorite park!

My three DD's were 11, 10 and 5 the last time we went to EPCOT and they thoroughly enjoyed the park. Enjoyed the food, colors and pageantry of the worlds as well as the spectacular fireworks show around the lake. Definately a must. Prrobably their second favorite park after MK.

TT, Soarin', M:S, HISTA, Maelstrom, SE,... I could go on and on :teeth:

We've never, not gone to EPCOT because of our son (now 9). He loves Mission Space, Test Track, Soarin, Innovations, Norway (for the pastries), Canada and Mexico (for the food and Mexico for the marketplace). Loves Japanese food.

So many things. He's been to WDW 26 times in 9 years and loves it all.

My boys (7, 11, 13) loved Soarin, TT, Mission Space, and Living Seas. They also thought Club Cool was fun. We also liked HISTA, though it seems a bit old. We didn't have time for Innoventions, but it looked fun. The video game room at the end of Mission Space was fun and we could have spent an hour there. The one thing they thought was boring was Spaceship Earth. We won't do that again. Don't bother if you have to wait in line for it. They also liked the marketplace in Mexico and some of the shops in the other countries. Another fun thing was listening to the bands - Off Kilter in Canada, British Invasion in England. We needed more time for the entertainment. Definitely give Epcot a try.

My DD is 11 and her favorite park since she was 2 has been Epcot. There always seems to be some different quality she likes each time. Of course she loves TT and we just rode Soarin and saw Turtle Talk at Cal Adv so those are must dos. She definitely loves spending some time in Innoventions and Image Works in the Imagination Pavillion. She still loves making a mask at the Kidcot station and we're planning to do it again in March. We like to make a day of it by starting in Mexico right when WS opens and working our way around to Canada, just doing the stops. We've done the passport book in the past and last year we also did the pressed pennies along the way and we take time to be silly and take pictures. One year I took a picture of her wearing a hat from each country and the next I took a picture of her holding one of the little flags. Last trip we got hungry about France and hit the pastry shop. We ended up going crazy and not ordering one nutritious item. I think we got about 5 pastries...but hey, we were on vacation and having a blast!! We've also seen the Chinese acrobats and the street show in the UK. Her absolute favorite is Miyuki the candy artist in Japan. Get there 10 minutes early to stake out a spot and you might be chosen to receive a free candy!!

I don't have first hand experience taking your age kids to Epcot, but I thought of a couple other things they might like that I don't think I have seen mentioned. The Jammitors perform in Future World. I think they are a lot of fun to watch. The Fife and Drum Corps at the American pavilion is nice. And as someone else said, don't miss Miyuki in Japan. She is just a darling to watch.

Out of the places we have eaten in Epcot (Garden Grill, Le Cellier, Restaurant Marrakesh, Tangierine Cafe, and Biergarten), I suppose that Garden Grill may be the best liked by kids. Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale were just wonderful there. I loved them all for food and ambiance. There is the bellydancer at Marrakesh and the Oktoberfest band at Biergarten.

Enjoy the planning!!

DS7 loves playing in the interactive fountains there.
If your 7 year old is a boy, have him wear his suit if it's a hot day and bring a towel.
My DS7 spends forever in those fountains with the other kids.

My kids love to eat at Coral reef. Request a table near the tank!

Epcot is our least favorite park. I am ashamed to admit that my kids have never even made the whole loop around with us. They do enjoy test track, Mission Space and Ellen's energy ride and Living with the Land. My boys are big into "thrill" rides. but do enjoy the others mentioned, but the countries seem to not be tempting to them. However this may be because we are big early entry people who usually leave parks by 11-12, and World Showcase opens later (10?) and we're tired and need our naps. I have made them promise to go with me to at least see the American Adventure this trip, They are 13 and 9 and we have gone I think 7 times since '99 when they were 2.5 and 6

what is HISTA?

My 12 year old loves Test Track, Mission Space, Turtle Talk with Crush in the Living Seas, The waterfall behind the Canada Pavilion, the cuckoo clock shop in Germany and Illuminations.

My 7 year old calls Test Track his "all time favorite ride ever!!!!" I wouldn't let him go on Mission Space though, and he was okay with that - he's not into extreme rides & that one is really extreme! He also was wowed by Crush and the entire aquarium in the Living Seas. He also adores the little miniature working model train setup outside of the cukoo clock shop in Germany (it is under a little walk over bridge).

My 3 year old loves Figment, the things in Innoventions, the musical fountain show, the character greetings and the boat ride in Mexico.

Oh, and don't miss Soarin'!!

My kids love TT and Turtle Talk With Crush. The Kidcot fun stops were great for the kids, they wanted to keep going around the world to get them all! :earsboy:
