What will I find different at ASMo compared to Pop?

We stayed at Pop (2 rooms) in December and loved it. We are part of a multi-family GG staying at ASMo during free dining. What will I find to be the major differences. Is the food court as great as Pop's? Are the mattresses old and saggy since the resort is so much older than Pop? Has Disney updated ASMo recently? I am a bit nervous about how the two resorts will compare.

This is just my opinion of course.... The food court is nicer at ASMo than the other AS resorts but not as nice as Pop- there aren't the same selections and variety but it is clean and attractive and laid out differently than the other AS resorts. There are no icee machines at any of the AS resorts. The bedding is the same at Pop and ASMo since neither have the new pillow top beds put in ASMu and ASSp during their renovation. ASMo is looking a bit shabby, again IMO. The room furnishings are the older style with the smaller TV sitting on top of a cabinet vs. a somewhat larger TV inside an armoire-type cabinet and the furnishings aren't as nice. That said, the rooms are still cheerful and fun. Truthfully though if it were me, I'd go with one of the other AS resorts until Movies gets an update unless you have children who prefer the huge icons at Movies. Really, any of the value resorts have something a bit different to offer and are very nice places to enjoy your vacation.---Kathy

This may seem a bit odd to note, but the toilets at Pop have levers for flushing them, while AS resorts have the button on top. Levers are easier for kids and those of us with arthritis! :)

I prefer Movies, we have stayed at POP many times too but our heart belongs to Movies. :lovestruc We think the beds are way more comfy than POP, the gift shop seems so much nicer to us with a better selection of schtuff to buy! The food court feeds into the gift shop at POP and it always seems HOT and crowded in there. Another thing, the POP rooms seem to have that A/C control that shuts down when there is no movement in the room. We'd wake up sweating in the middle of the night. Always have trouble with the luggage/bellhop situation at POP.

In POP's favor, the pool bar is nicer and the tunes they play on the Muzak are way cool! :cool1:

When we stay Value, Movies is always our 1st choice, POP is our 2nd.

We love POP. ASMo is great too, but POP has to get the #1 rating from our family of 4.:)

We really liked a lot of things about POP, the theming, the rooms, the pools, the food court choices, but the one thing we didn't like as much as the all stars is the size. It is just such a long walk back to your room at the end of the day because POP is HUGE. I know you can pay extra for the preferred rooms, but why pay the extra if there are other choices. For that reason alone we really like the all stars more. The food court at pop is nice and has great selecions but it is pretty chaotic too. After saying all of that...I wouldn't hesitate to stay at POP again...I would just choose All Stars first.

Yes, you really can't go wrong with any of the value choices- they're all nice resorts and each one has it merits. We actually vacillate between Pop and ASMusic and none of my family can ever decide which is "better" since they really like both, for different reasons. We stayed at Movies two years in a row with FD and last year stayed at Pop- I recall the food court at Movies to be less stressful as well as the busses but nothing was so drastically different that it made an impact- we had great fun all three times and looking forward to doing it again.---Kathy

I think the selection at the ASMo foodcourt is better than POP. The beds are the same. Being older, I have experienced a dripping bathtub and a sink faucet handle that fell off when I turned on the water. I like them both, but ASMo is my favorite.

This may seem a bit odd to note, but the toilets at Pop have levers for flushing them, while AS resorts have the button on top. Levers are easier for kids and those of us with arthritis! :)

All the rooms don't have that kind of toliet. I've stayed at ASMo six times and had just the regular handle on the toliet. Maybe the one you had was a newer replacement. We stayed at the Disneyland Hotel last year and it had a toliet with a button. That's it for the toliet trivia. :)
