What will HS be like at closing time?

How do they handle park close and ride lines during these events? We will be there Sept 19-22. I had planned HS for a half day to let the kids to TSL. We are not Star Wars fans but wouldn’t mind taking a look while there. What time do they close the lines? DH and DS probably wouldn’t mind waiting a while for a cool ride while I took the others back to the hotel...

You can get into line for any ride all the way up until close time, and you'll be guaranteed a ride, assuming there's not a malfunction or something. At park close time, no one is allowed to get into line, but anyone currently in line can still ride. People will then slowly start to trickle out of the parks.
Having said that, I don't know if there will be other measures in place to deal with crowds at SWGE or not. Also, at the start the "waiting a while" for a cool ride will likely be several hours. Just a heads up :)

This is generally true, but when Flight of Passage opened, they would cut of the line well before closing. They won't keep the ride going 3 hours after park close. They'll gauge the line, and close the line at a point where they thing they can get everyone through within 60-90 minutes of closing.

Flight of Passage closed early when it was new due to the nightly EMH in place at the time.

My thoughts as well. No way they keep the park open 3-5 hours after park close. I wonder how they will remove non resort guests from the land if they have evening extra magic hours. I won’t be there until 2021 but I find it fascinating how crowds will be managed.

They’ll probably do what they do now on other popular attraction. They’ll post a greatly exaggerated wait time then close off a majority of the queue area to make the line appear longer than it really is. These methods have been in place for years and work very well in scaring off potential riders.

Just as an example, we rode FoP last year close to closing time. The posted wait was 120 minutes and the line extended well outside of the building. Most arriving guests just shook their heads and walked away. We were in the first pre-show in 17 minutes.

This was our experience as well, we were in and out in 20 mins with a posted wait time still 120 and you then get the benefits of seeing the full view of the stand by queue which gives a different interesting view.

for most lines you can get in up to the minute the park close but I have seen them close a line early ( like for FOP) so I would keep an eye out for early closing of the line for the first month or so
