What will happen with FEs?

DCL is not permitting them on the UK Staycations this summer. Might this be a policy that continues?

Hanging Gift Bags on Stateroom Doors
In an effort to minimize traffic in common areas, door-to-door gift exchanges (via “fish extenders”) among Guests are not permitted.

I don't think the prohibition will continue beyond the initial reopening period. The CDC has been clear that Covid is rarely spread via touch, and FEs are very popular with a subset of Disney cruisers. FE's also do not create much hallway "traffic" in reality.

We have not participated in years, but it does still seem to be popular.

Even if it isn't a lot of traffic, it does have people going to areas of the ship where they normally wouldn't, so I would expect them to be prohibited for a while at least. Even if the risk is small, I think cruise operators will be especially conservative.

I'd assume things will calm back down pretty quickly once we get moving again. Well let me rephrase that. I bet its going to go one of two ways things will get worst or things will keep getting better and restrictions will continue to life until we have a sense of normalcy again. How soon that'll happen is hard to say. Its going to likely be dictated by the CDC and cleaning measures required by the cruiselines. They're going to be doing their best to keep us all cruising.

Does the WISH even have fish hardware for the FEs? I've only seen the new door number plaques so far.

I thought I saw something in one of the facebook groups I'm in. It looked like they may be replacing the fish with a Cinderella carriage for the Wish but I didn't actually read the article or anything so I may be WAY off there.

It looks so small, the carriage. I thought it was a name tag or something.

I don't mind the FE's it's the people that cover their entire door and the walls and even CEILING around their stateroom with decorations and magnets is what I dislike quite a bit. I hope they restrict them to only decorating JUST their stateroom door ONLY.

Agreed. I don't get that either. I left off decorating my door when I graduated from college.

We've decorated our doors because we've had more than one room (not always directly next to each other) and smaller kids. It makes it easy for the kids. Though our most aggressive decorations were a death star that went around the door number and 3-4 smaller magnets with the names of our cruisers. We try to keep it simple.

That is a dangerous risk to have people depend on magnets on a door to find their room. There are multiple tales of magnets being moved to other doors or flat-out stolen. Much better to teach people - even kids who are old enough to roam alone (and if they are not old enough then it shouldn’t matter as they will be with someone) - the room number.

Not us...it’s been a while since I graduated college, and “the wife” went through 24 years of education if you count medical school and residency, and we *still* put personalized magnets on our doors and participate in fish extender exchanges...even when we don’t bring the “kids” who are now 19, 19, and 22.

But of course, we are weird, and celebrate Halloween full force, and go all out with Christmas lights on our house, so you know, different strokes and live and let live. ;)
