What will be harder to book:
  • A 2bdrm at BLT at 7 months (you will accept any view)

  • A THV at 7 months (imagine a point chart simlar to SSR 2bdrm- but with a slight increase)

Curious what y'all think will be the hotter ticket item. Let the speculation begin!

I think the treehouses will be more difficult to book at 7 months. I think the treehouses will appeal more to non-SSR owners than BLT will appeal to non-BLT owners for repeated visits.

I also think BLT will appeal to non-BLT owners for shorter stays, and the treehouses will appeal to non-SSR owners for longer stays.

Good point about the treehouses being more desirable for longer stays. I hadn't thought of that but I bet that will be true.

I would say THV. One reason is the limited number of them. I see us using THV only once or twice. We have no ned for the room, but it would be nice for a week to look at the boats go by as they look at us. LOL

I thinking the opposite. The THV's are 3 bedrooms, that's a lot of folks travelling with you on vacation. :headache: I know lots of folks will bring grandma & Pop-pop with them but a 2 bedroom will easily handle that.
It may just be me though, I think of 9 of my family members with me on vacation for a week and the one word that keeps popping up is Homicide. :scared1:

A lot, I think, depends on the points. If the treehouses are closer to 2br points, then many SSR owners who would normally book a 2br might just decide to pony up a few extra points and go for a treehouse. That will make them very difficult to get at 7 months. However, if the points are closer to GV numbers, then SSR owners might stick with a 2br. There will be 60 of them, so there will be more of them than the 36 Grand Villas, but far fewer than the 792 2brs.

If the points are equal to 2br, then I think any 7 month availability will be extremely rare.

They may be three bedrooms, but the treehouses will sleep 9 total, like a regular two bedroom, not 12 people like a GV.

In your example its the THV - no doubt about it. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't thought it through. You can close this thread now. ;)

The reason though is there are ALOT of SSR owners who can book 11-7 months. And there are a couple of THV.

There will be less BLT owners, and more BLT 2 BRs (especially when you consider dedicated and lock-offs).

The numbers just don't lie. It will be much easier to get a BLT 2 BR. The only way this is different is if the THV is even more than a 2BR MK View... that would change the equation a bit.

i agree w/ the the THVs being harder to book than BLT, especially if the point usage is comparable to a SSR 2 bedroom.

I dont know that I'd want to travel with 9 of us in that small space.....maybe more like 6. And i think the appeal is that there are three separate bedrooms so privacy for 3 different parties PLUS the living area. in a two bedroom you have the living room plus the private master bed and the private extra studio.

I think the THV will be much harder to book if points are low. They may sleep 9 but many people who normally book a 2 bdrm don't necessarily have 9 people staying there. There are families who may only have 4 people, but want seperate bedrooms/space etc... Many people already do that now.

My other thought is that to me the THV just seem extremely unique, even by Disney standards, and I think there will be a lot of people curious to try them.

They were hard to get 20 years ago because they were unique. It'll probably be even harder with the new villas. And I'll bet that CRO won't have a problem booking them, either - the few that will be available.

DisFlan

THV most definitively. I can't see Disney charging GV prices for them since they may be standalone, but they only sleep one more person than a 2bedroom. I think it'll be closer to 2bedroom rates, probably a point or two more, especially on weekends.

The appeal of a THV would be something like this. My dad and I take my sister and her family on vacation. She has two little boys. So instead of them sharing a room with the kids, the kids can have the bunkbeds. We're only 6 people total but THV would feel more homey and spacious.

I'm just really hoping we see at least one fully accessible unit among the THV. If so, I'll happily be calling in bright and early to make a reservation there next time we take the family.

BLT has the location, but the prices are higher and you don't get more space. Great for special event visits and MK-addicts.

Maybe a better comparision would be THV vs BLT w/ MKV?

THV is what, about 8-10% of SSR and MKV is 20% of BLT, or something like that?

THV without a doubt. We're a family of four (opposite gender kids) that stays in studios, but I will absolutely book a THV for just us. I would not have booked a 2-bedroom - but treehouses are such a fantasy. Plus, there are not that many THV and there are lots of SSR owners.

I will be surprised if any THV are open at 7 months. Actually - I think SSR owners will have to call right at 11 months to get them.

OTOH - I don't think BLT will be that hard to get at 7 months because of the substantial point premium - I think it will be a "every now and then" resort for most owners, and not a "stay for extended time" resort.

While I can't imagine WHY I need a three bedroom THV I can admit, I want to try one out.

I can't really say the same thing about BLT...

So I vote THV!

I agree with Chuck.

How true, how true!! But you should edit that to read JUSTIFIABLE homicide!;)

Keep in mind that very few of the THV's are right on the water, the rest of them are back in the wooded area.
