What will be cheaper: Mid Week April school vacation OR Memorial Day weekend

We are trying to plan a cruise in 2012 and our two options are flying down in April (mid week) during school vacation week (the third week in April) OR Memorial Day weekend (probably Friday or Saturday). I know that flying during April vacation is always expensive but I'm not sure about how Memorial Day affects things. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome!

I would assume Memorial Day is less expensive; it's not as much of a "get away somewhere warm" sort of holiday. But, in another month or two, you'll be able to check yourself and know for sure.

I think the 3rd week of April may be cheaper. Memorial weekend flight prices are always up. In April the extreme prices fall the week before and the week after Easter. Easter is 4/8 so the third week (midweek) should see some deals. Just a thought!

If you can fly Tues. or Wed. in April, you should be fine. But, Fri., Sat., Sun. and often Thurs. prices are usually brutal. (Although deals can be had if you book well in advance.) We often fly April vaca. week (I teach) and I have to book via discount sites and often have crazy travel times and/ or connections just to get the price under $400.
