What???!!! Where was Tinkerbell during Wishes???

Just wondering what makes her flight so dangerous. (I have never seen Wishes.) I assume she rides a zip line? Doesn't she wear a safety harness? Sorry for my ignorance

I don't know either because I have never seen Wishes :scared1. So she is at the beginning and not the end of Wishes?

I was disappointed when she didn't fly when we were there in March. My husband was convinced that this flying Tink was not a real person, but just some kind of mechanical thing that flew the wire. I was really hoping to convince him otherwise, but it didn't happen. He swears that when we were there in 2000 that it was not a real person that went down the wire. Can anyone tell me if there was a time when a real Tink did not fly the wire??

I'm surprised to hear that sometimes Tink is a man. They told us that Tink has to be under a certain weight. So I guess it would have to be a pretty small man.

I have heard Tink cannot be over 100 pounds, which should be no problem for a pixie!~Winks~ LOL! :goodvibes

A bit into the beginning of the show.

It is written and designed so that if she is not there,
most guests won't know that she is missing.

Maybe even hairy helpers, at that. ;)

Here's the infamous photo (I didn't shoot it)-

Tinker Bell (Tinker Bill?) in Wishes

Be careful with some of these comments, I've had my hand slapped and post removed for similar.

On the KTTK tour they said occasionally that the initial push and gravity may not be enough to get Tink to the end, especially if there is much headwind, so Tink quickly kills the lights on the suit and has to hand over hand it down the wire, I think another reason for a Tinkerbill. I don't remember a weight limit but I know size was discussed and I think it had as much to do with room up to of the castle as weight on the wire. 3 people, counting Tink, are on that perch at one time to get Tink moving.

Tinker Bell may have had male helpers in the in the distance past- but I assure you all the current ones are female! I used to work in Disney entertainment, and I have met them and seen them up close! I have also talked to people who've auditioned for it. The hieght and weight requirements alone would make it very unlikely for this person to be male. The comments about hairy legs are silly because Tink helpers wear flesh-toned sequinned tights. And c'mon, even if one was male, do you really think Disney would allow someone in that position to have any facial hair?

To answer the OP, yes, others are correct. Tink does not fly if the winds reach a particular speed.

I put that photo into my "Junior Gil Grissom, CSI - Magnify-O-Rama"
and here's the close-up of the dainty little lady,

(And, I did no "touch-ups," your Honor.)

We never tell newbies about Tink because you just never know if she will fly or not. So it is always a pleasant surprise when she does.

When we took the KTTK tour, we were also told all about the weather conditions and the weight limits, etc. I found it really interesting that the first Tink was a really old women (in her 70's when she finally stopped flying). She did it for years.

Yes.

She was "Tink's Helper" at Disneyland, in California.

The first Tinker Bell to appear at Disneyland Park in California was played by a woman named Tiny Kline a very petite woman who was four feet ten inches tall and a mere 98 pounds. She was hired in 1961 to fly during the fireworks display. This portrayer of Tinker Bell was 71 years old and a former circus aerialist. At the end of her flight she was stopped by running into a mattress. Like the character Tiny played she was very temperamental. In 1964 Tiny Kline retired because of poor health.

A zipline? What do you mean a zipline? That's preposterous; I thought everyone knew that she flies!

I love whenever this discussion comes up.

popcorn::

You'd think that she would be motorized so she could get to the end.. yikes.
truthfully though, i can't even watch it, because it makes me nervous for her safety. it sort of wrecks my enjoyment even though I know that's silly. So I don't watch.

This is slightly off topic. How long has Tinkerbell been flying at the MK. It's been 25 years since I've been and don't remember her doing it back then. TIA

I know that she was flying in the early 90's when I was there.
