What/Where to eat - IBS and Coeliac?

My wife is in the process of being diagnosed as both coeliac and suffering from IBS. We'll know more in May after some tests are done but for now, using the FODMAP diet and avoiding anything containing gluten seems to be helping and we're wondering how to go about food planning...

Looking at the allergen-free meals listed in the Food allergies brochure here: http://www.disneylandparis.co.uk/content/GB/EN/Neutral/system/images/food_allergies.pdf, a lot of the meals seem to include onions or mushrooms which are both unsuitable for her diet.

We'll hopefully know a lot more about her sensitivities by the time we're going (January 2015) but we're starting to wonder if the best option is going to be for her to bring a load of pre-prepared stuff in a suitcase which wouldn't be much fun and could presumably cause a lot of hassle for cast members in the restaurants?

I came across the email address DLP.CRO.SPECIAL.NEEDS@disney.com on another thread on this forum but it seems to be bouncing back?

Where are you staying? I ask because if you're in the Davy Crockett ranches or somewhere else self catering, you're probably safer taking and making your own stuff.

Try dlp.uk.admin@disneylandparis.com and if nothing else they might redirect you to the appropriate email address.

Sorry I can't help more - SIL is gluten intolerant so I know how difficult it can be - but hopefully the email address will be of use...

Thanks for the email address. We're staying in Cheyenne. I wasn't aware Davy Crocket was self catering, d'oh!

I suffer from IBS and glue intolerance (and part time verge!). Breakfast is easily solved - they provide a special one for me, and I can take as much as I want. It's biscuits, crackers, cake, soy milk (yuk, I hate it!) bread and the likes and you are allowed to take them out of the breakfast room for snacks too (they insisted!).

I took can't have garlic, onions, cabbage, wheat, eggs blah blah.......but I do find lots to eat! Jacket potatoes, chicken, salads, rice (check it first), chips are all good (I love Hakuna Matata) and the buffets (Plaza Gardens, Restaurant des Stars and Chuck Wagon) are my favourites. Salads can be fabulous at Earl of Sandwich (reliable drinks are fab too) and plenty of variety.

I know they won't let you take your own food into restaurants, and staff will not heat or prepare any food which is not theirs. They'll however, prepared meal without certain foods so as long as its an intolerance and not an allergy (where as you will get a severe reaction as swelling or rushes if food stuff comes into contact with banned foods) then she'll have a wonderful meal!

A simple blood test can be done at your Doctors for Coeliac disease and results are quick (I had a test and was back in 5 days) so get that done asap and you'll know if its more if a case for IBS with intolerance oe an allergy, or if it's the more serious Coeliac or even Chrons (also can be tested at the same time).

In the mean time, full sympathies and hope you get good results!

If you can drive and haven't booked your gravel, then you can change where you're staying, just pay the difference ;)
