I saw this on the travel channel last week and didn't get the name or where it is, but it sounded like something my two boys and my husband would enjoy. This will be our first visit to WDW (sept. 13 - 24) Any help would be appreciated.:D

You are likely referring to the Sci Fi restaurant at the Disney Studios. Check out allearsnet.com, click on dining on the top of the page and then menu towards the bottom of the next page. You can view the menus for all the Disney restaurants.

Sci-Fi is one of my families favorite's. The atmosphere is the best and they have a real good lunch menu. We went there for dinner on our past Xmas trip and did not enjoy it as much as our previous lunches.

When we went in May 2003, Sci-Fi was one of the things that our whole family was looking forward to and we were all totally disappointed. The food was overpriced and not the greatest that we had, and you sit in neat little cars, but watch the same old movie "clips" and commercials over and over... Just not what we were expecting, I guess. I think it would have been better if we had just stopped in for desert instead of dinner.

The Sci-Fi seems to be very popular so a PS would be a good idea.

If you get burgers or sandwhiches it's likely that you will be satisfied. Also, if you are prepared that they show some corney clips and you will see them a few times then you won't be dissapointed. We think it is cute and fun. You have to take it for what it is worth and you will like it and have fun.
it's usually a place that we go for lunch I don't know fi I would go there for dinner. You really should get a PS

beckmrk04, I agree with you. We went last year at the advice of some friends. We were really looking forward to it, but were very disappointed, even the kids said so. We prefer 50's Prime Time over Sci-Fi.

We went to the Sci Fi in May for lunch...it was our second time. My ds9 wanted to celebrate his birthday there. We thought it was good! The food, although not "magnificent"...was good and the milkshakes are too die for!

This is one of our (me, DH, two DS's) favorite places to eat at WDW. The theming is fun - car tables facing a "drive-in" theatre screen. Yes, they show the same clips over and over, but it's a fairly long reel of clips. We don't eat all that fast, and most of the time when we finish our meal the clips are just starting to get to the point where they were when we got there. This last trip we finished eating before the clips started repeating.

I highly recommend lunch over dinner. The food here is not spectacular overall, but the burgers and shakes are delicious. The burgers aren't on the dinner menu though, and although you can order a burger off-menu they aren't as good as they are at lunch (I'm speaking from personal experience and from posts by other people who have done this).

If you go into it expecting a fun, campy setting and stick with burgers and shakes for lunch, I think you'll enjoy Sci Fi.

Here's another vote in favour of Sci Fi! It's definitely better as a lunch choice than as a dinner choice, IMHO. We generally stick to burgers and shakes and are pretty happy with that. I'm not sure how long the film reel is - 30 minutes? 45 minutes? - but we're normally in and out quickly enough that we don't see very many things a second time. DS (now 11) has loved it since he was 7 and DD likes it too, but not to quite the same extent. It's also very quiet and relaxing on a hot day at MGM.

I completely agree with everyone who is suggesting a PS, since the restaurant is very popular. You can call 1-407-WDW-DINE to make this and any other PSes. When you actually arrive at the podium at the restaurant, you might want to tell them that you'd like to wait for a "car" table. These have lots more atmosphere than the regular tables.

Have fun!
