What weird things do your pets do?

oh, i forgot about my grandmother's cat. he was a black and gray tabby, a stray my aunt found when she tossed her trash into the dumpster at her apartment complex. well, she couldn't keep him, so my grandparents took him. he is long gone now, but he LOOOOOVED women with long hair-if you had long hair, he would jump up in your lap, wrap his front paws around your neck and bury his face in your hair. he would then proceed to purr very loudly (and sometimes drool as he nuzzled your hair) while he kneaded your neck with his paws. he also tried to talk. when he wanted to go outside, he would stand at the door and say "i want out". i swear, it sounded just like it. of course, he also said that when he wanted back in, lol.

My cat Daisy hisses and growls everytime the door bell rings
My parents cat loves to eat breadsticks! :thumbsup2

Cleo is unlike any other cat I have ever met. She has so many weird tendencies but my favorite is she loves to carry stuffed animals around by their rear end. It does not matter if it is small or large this is how she carries them around.

Caly loves anything plastic and loves licking ziploc bags. She gets this look on her face when she does it that is hilarious.

One cat:
Licks plastic bags.
Licks water out of the tub.
Meows at you after you get out of the shower, regardless of the time of day.

Both of my cats drink water out of the tub too! Sometimes when I go to the bathroom I see four eyes and ears peeking out....LOL...I'll be on the toilet and all of a sudden two fur balls jump out from behind the shower curtain. Scared quite a few guests of mines...

We had a cat that used to pick up dry food with his claws and then eat it. He also "shook hands" with those same claws.

DD's cat "Screams" every morning, like he is being attacked or something, but all he wants is his brother our German Shepard, then sounds like a vw beetle purring.

My daughter's hamster, Teddy, goes to the corner of his cage (rubber maid tub) and stands on his head to pee in the corner. We never had a hamster before so I don't know for sure if this is normal or not, but it sure looks strange to me!

The puppy is 7 months old now - we'll be happy when he stops trying to take EVERYTHING outside through their doggy door. We've found our keys, cordless phone, tv remote and his crate pad all outside!
I came home one day and found my laundry strewn all over the back yard. It looked like I'd stripped my clothes off while running around the yard. I think he was about a year old when he decided that everything needed to taken out the doggie door.

It took a long time for me to get Zelda to retrieve anything because Jet would always get there first. So Zelda would just sit there and look at me like "really? you know Jet will get for you". I finally had to start taking her out by herself to see if she'd do it. She did it perfectly the first time - probably all of that watching her buddy do it.
I spent hours and hours on each of my first three cockers teaching them to sit and shake hands. My little Breaux came when I still had Tchoupi. I never once taught him to shake hands. He just observed that you got a treat for doing that. He did it voluntarily when I was giving instructions to Tchoupi.

Our cat does some fun stuff. My fav is that he likes to play tag with me. If I look at him and say his name and then the sound UP, he comes to find me, tags my ankle, then I gently jog around and he chases me room to room until he can tag me again. HILARIOUS!!

Also, our cat likes to open drawers and empty the contents. I came home yesterday to find all my tableclothes scattered around the kitchen. The best was the other night I was putting our oldest daughter to bed to find her bottom drawer completely empty with the clothes hidden in her closet, with him sitting on top of the pile looking at me like "wha? " :lmao:

He is so cute, but cheeky!!

My dogs over the years have all had "funny" habits-one springer spaniel would "talk" to me every morning when I came down the stairs. Another one would steal beer from the storage room and roll it around for a few minutes and then bite it so the fizzy beer would shoot out and she would try to catch it in her mouth as it sprayed.....what a mess! One of my spaniels had a fussy tummy and if she was going to have an accident she would get in the bath tub and have it there. EVERY TIME. She also would hide every tennis ball we had from all of our other dogs-in the rocks or wild grass by the lake or if the boat was uncovered she would jump on when we werent looking and hide them in the cup holders. My lab always answers the door with a stuffed toy in her mouth. Both of my dogs now will not destroy the stuffed toys-they just snuggle with them and they get really upset if visiting dogs try to rip them up! My very first springer would turn the electric blanket back on after my husband got up in the morning and turned it off. She was the smartest dog ever! On of my springers didn't like to swim in the pool but LOVED to sit on a raft all afternoon and relax. Thank you to who ever started this topic-you have given me a few minutes of love here remembering my sweet dogs who have crossed the bridge-

I rescued a cocker that had been relinquished because the apt. did not allow pets. They'd tried to hide him for almost a year. I got a few presents in the bathtub. I'm assuming that they trained him to go in there since they couldn't take him out for walks.

Cody was so sweet, but not the brightest bulb. Saw him one time go to the doggie door, put his head and two feet out and then pee with his backend still in the room.

My Blackie lays UNDER his blankets - not on them. Sometimes I won't even notice his unless he has a bit of paw or tail hanging out:

So does my Josie(she's black and white too). She has to be under the blankets.
And our elderly kitty loves to be spanked. When she was fat and healthy you could hit her pretty dang hard on the butt and she'd only yowl when you stopped because she wanted some more! (Wierd S&M kitty). These days she is old and sknny but she still likes it!
Same for my Josie. She is a big cat(18 lbs). What I do is "anchor" her by holding her tail with one hand and spanking her with the other. She loves it. And now when friends and family come over they know they have to give Josie her spanking. Otherwise, she will cry and whine(obnoxious) until she gets it.:lmao:

My other cat, Katie, comes when you whistle. And I mean just whistling a tune. DH whistles all the time and Katie comes running, gets right in his face and rubs her face against his. I can't tell if she actually likes the whistling or if it bothers her ears or something.

Both cats have to be in the bathroom when we are in there. But Katie likes to stand up and bite me on the thigh when I'm on the toilet.:scared1:

Stands on his head to pee?? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

There have been some amusing and funny posts on here about our pets. Both of my kittens were fostered from our SPCA and then we adopted them after falling in love with their quirkiness.

I notice that my 1 yo cat and 5 month old kitten have some of the same odd behaviors as other kitties such as liking running water and having to be in the bathroom with us when we are in there. I notice another poster said their cat liked plastic bags. My older one likes to chew holes in the plastic bags. Any bags, Target bags, chip bags, sandwich bags....she doesn't eat the contents just chews holes in them. Of course once she opens the bags of chips my little kitten then eats the insides. She eats everything! Both my kitties love the ring around the milk container, it's their favorite toy to play with.

Our younger kitty likes being in the bathroom with me in the mornings. When I brush my teeth, she jumps on my back and chases her tail. This only happens in the mornings. She likes to play fetch with her ball of paper, but only at 5:00 AM. I started hiding the balls under the pillows. Another weird habit my little one has is sucking my thumb, not like a child would do, but latching on to the opposite side of my nail, the fat part and sucking on it when she is tired. AND last but not least, my little calico continues to remove a Tinkerbell cling that is on the bathroom mirror. She cannot stand it on there, and she will jump as high as she can to get to it. Really quite funny. I now understand why they referred to her as a feisty calico. But she is just as loving as she is feisty.

I have a small 3'x5' balcony on my upstairs condo with a small dog door in the door. My dog can go out there to get some fresh air and inspect the neighborhood.

He loves to go sit out there stairing back into the house. From outside it looks like I have locked him out there and that he is begging to be let back in.

Now he has done this when we've had a big snow (about 2" here) and when it's been 98 degrees. My neighbors probably think that I am some hideous person that locks him out on that tiny balcony to suffer in extreme heat and cold.

We have a cat that seeks out the warmest spots which led to tonnight:
We have a cat formerly known as dakota. Tonnight he decided he wanted to find the warmest spot in the house, and crawled between the walls. His furry butt was wedged in a tiny hole by the celing and couldnt get out. So after we punched 5 holes in the wall, the dumb butt cat crawled out one of them after I spent nearly a hour sitting there calling his name. His name has changed to Dumbo!

My kitty likes to put both front paws in the water dish and splash around! Makes a big mess, but he really seems to enjoy it and its hysterical to watch. He also likes to pull sweaters or sweatshirts off the hangers in the closet to sleep on. I used to think they fell on the floor and he found them until I caight him pulling one down once. Brat.

omg one of mine does this too! i had always thought cats didn't like water but for some reason he's always playing in his water bowl! DH just says he's "washing his hands" lol

he also will go into another room and just start meowing away at nothing in particular.

i have two other cats(both girls) and one of them likes to watch tv. it's the oddest thing. she'll sit right infront of the tv and just stare at it when something is on....usually the news. and if you change the channel she'll just walk away lol

My cat LOVES McDonald french fries, will sit and stare at you while you're eating them. I've never seen a cat love something like that.

mine(the boy again) LOVES potato chips. anytime you're eating chips he's RIGHT THERE next to you, incase you drop one. he also likes popcorn.

Love the stories!

Our 18 year old cat will come and find us and meow at the bathroom door until he is fed whether anyone is in there or not, starting a around 9. If we feed him before 9:30 he gets kitty Alzheimers, forgets he ate and kicks the cycle off again. Same cat meows the word "Help" when he is done eating in his room and wants to be let out, it is so human like that we warn our kids' friends when they sleepover. We had a hamster that KNEW that if he could wedge his hamster ball into a corner he could get the leverage to push up on the opening, work it open & escape. He looked like a little atlas pushing up on a reverse world. He was also able to get out of every single kind of cage we could buy, amazing animal who is long gone now. Sad but not surprised.

If there is a pillow available our dog will lay his head on it and stretch out like a human.

my boy kitty meows "hello" i swear! anytime DH and i come home he's in the kitchen waiting for us and i swear it sounds like he says "hello!"
