To search for and book off-site accommodation...

And the flip side...what websites would you steer clear off due to unfavourable experiences?

Cheers,

Janelle

I think it depends upon what type of accomodations you are looking for, but some to try are orbitz, expedia, yahoo travel. For auctions, you can try skyauction. If you are "brave" you can try hotwire or priceline...we have had good luck with both.

The one I would avoid is hotelkingdom, seems like they have canceled several reservations lately which would be pretty scary.

If we are looking for good deals on timeshare villas like Marriott or HGVC, we use eBay -- so far so good, although there is an element of trust. Last year we got a 3BR at Hilton Grand Vacation Club Sea World for $650 for the week and it was wonderful!

Expedia have got a bit pricey recently. On this side of the Atlantic we get discounted hotels to attract us over to US. A good site to use is www.alpharooms.com They are based about 20 miles from me and you can book from US in $US, A lot of disboarders have used them after me recommending them. I have booked Courtyard by Marriott LBV again with them for 25 nights in August, $50/night incl tax. Marriott site wanted $149+tax.
