What weather site do you use for WDW weather?

Hi all,

I feel like when I use the weather channel.com, I usually get a depressing trip forecast. I'm curious if there is another weather site that people use to see what the weather will be like for their Disney trip?

Thanks,
Marina

We use weather.com but things change so often in FL, it doesn't do any good to look more than a day or so out. If you're going in 3 days, it will be hot, humid, and probably rain for awhile every day. It may rain where you are, or it may not; it may rain at Epcot and not MK.

Depends on the season. When I go in early December, I've seen highs between high 40's to low 80's. So it makes a big difference in what I pack. I usually look at weather.com. I've found Accuweather has big swings more than a couple days out. You could check it in the morning and it will say 80 and check it later in the day and it will say 70. When I go May to October, I really don't pay attention because I know it will be hot.

I haven't looked at it the last couple years.. We always go in August, it's hot, it rains, it stops raining, it's hot again :) occasionally like a PP mentioned we will look at the weather some days we are there to see how long the rain will last etc or last year when the heat index was 105!

My husband is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service so I can say with certainty that the best forecasts come from those that live and work in the area for which they are forecasting. You will get the most accurate information from the National Weather Service for that area. This is the direct page for up to date forecasts for Kissimmee:

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=28.304676605000452&lon=-81.41666831999964#.V6ZY344Vk_k

The other variable is often times weather apps and other weather sources get their information directly from the weather service anyway so you might as well start with the source.

I don't ever look at the weather in advance.

I might look at the weather on TV in the morning before heading out, but anything earlier than that is useless.
Agreed. You can't control the weather so why worry about it. Some of our best days were when it rained and everyone abandoned the parks.

I will tell you NOT to use the weather app that comes on the iPhone. While we were there, it did not predict rain for one day out of all 4 of our stay. I had plugged in Bay Lake, Kissimmee, and Orlando. No rain, it said! (I knew it was a lie, it's Central Fl in July).

One day we got torrential downpours. So much rain, crazy lightning and thunder. I went to accuweather.com using the safari app and they were issuing a severe weather alert. So from now on, when it matters, I will not rely on the weather app. I had been checking all afternoon because I could see the clouds coming in and feel the rain on my hand. The app still said 0% chance of rain.

I don't even look at the weather before my trip, and the only thing I rely on while I am WDW is my own two eyes and the sky. That's the best way to get the accurate forecast. All the rest is just guessing. My method is mostly guessing, too, but at least it's up to the minute and accurate for my immediate local area (which makes a big difference, because it can look like the end of the world to a person standing in front of City Hall on Main Street, while at the exact same moment, someone over at the Double Dumbos is enjoying a perfect sunny afternoon with clear blue skies.

Your best bet is to have a good radar app on your phone. I always check that, and the weather, when I get up every morning and if there is rain in the forecast I keep checking throughout the day. When big downpours hit, it's nice to be able to see how long it will last. Make sure a get a radar app that can pick up your location so you can easily see where you are in relation to the radar. We use PYKL3.

I don't check before hand, it's worthless to
I do like to monitor rain while there
I use
Darksky app
App local station issued but I change the location to Disney. I like that is uses Google maps so I can see where exactly the rain is in relation to the park

I use the accu weather app on my phone however I feel it useless while visiting during the summer months. I already know the forcast. It will be hot, damn hot, with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. During the winter weather can be more unpredictable. During a day trip around new years it was sunny and 85. Three weeks later in January it was sunny but highs in the 40's. Don't let a forcast of rain in the summer discourage you. It rains most every day during that time but usually for only a short while.

Here in Massachusetts, where the weather changes about as frequently as in Florida, I use The Weather Channel app, DH uses DarkSky. Between the two of us, we're partly right with a chance of accuracy.

Accuweather.com. I also look at weather radar the day of and the day before to help me decide on what the weather will be like that day.

I like to use Accuweather to get an idea of historical weather when I'm planning further out. When it gets to be about 10 days before my trip, I compare daily a variety of sources - Weather.com, Wunderground, WESH, WOFL, WKMG, WFTV. And if it's hurricane season, then I check the National Hurricane Center website.
