I am going to be moving into what is hopefully Chatham in a couple of months and I am just curious as to what are the rules of what we can have up on the walls or in our rooms?

You're technically allowed only two holes in the wall; most people hang a bulletin board/dry erase board combo or one or the other. It really depends on how strict the people who check your apartments are, as to what will need to go before room checks. In theory you could hang stuff up on the walls (with tape or something) and as long as it's down by inspections, then you shouldn't have a problem. Or I know one time that a roommate of mine had a bunch of posters on her wall and the lady gave her the option of taking them down right away or being written up and she decided she didn't care and got written up, but you need three of those write-ups in your apartment for anything to be done.
You may get a better idea of what is and isn't allowed once you attend the housing meeting though.

hey i actually just finished my program. and we were told that you can have four pieces in each room. preferably like one board on one wall. in both of my rooms (we extended so lived at vista and chatham) we only ever have one board for each of us.

I had one bulletin board up and also a poster. For our last inspection I was "asleep" and didn't take my poster down and the lady just told my roommate to let me know I can't have that up. We were moving out like a week later so I didn't really care at that point.

Four pieces? What does this mean? o.o

Four pieces as in one piece per wall, I'm assuming. Held up by two pins/tacks only (as per the two tack per wall rule)

I think I had two maybe three posters and a bulletin board in my room, but my posters were in poster frames and nailed, IDK if that makes a difference or not, I don't remember ever being told any of those specific guidelines but maybe it's because I was within those guidelines in the first place. I think our posters in the livingroom were taped on the walls but we only had like two.

I really reccommend poster frames, they're usually less than $10 and they keep your posters from getting damaged, especially if you extend your program or move out of your apartment for any reason.

I was at Vista Way 2005 so I don't know if I can be much help, since I never saw Chatham(sp?). I would take enough to make your stay nice, but as little as you really need. You can take the bus to Wally World if you need to to get essentials. Remember, you'll have to pack it all up to take it home. I think I only took one suitcase full of clothes and I was fine. I was in costume working most of the time. So think less is more! And only take things that you won't care about leaving once you do leave. I had the problem of accumulating too much and almost didn't get anything back home lol.

It's like staying in a dorm room really, not much space. And I would suggest a shower caddy that you can haul from the shower to your bed. I only got a bed, a dresser, and a nightstand. But really, you're hardly in your room at all. Hope this helps some, it has been so long since I went!

LOL sorry didn't answer your question at all! I got so excited remembering and then didn't answer. LOL. I never remembered seeing much on the walls, maybe one or two large prints. For the most part we just didn't have anything. You will be so busy it won't be that big a deal once you get started. You'll be out with people or working. It's so much fun, I hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did mine.

So my roommate and I would really like to have a curtain over the window. We would be using a tension rod so it would not leave any holes or marks or damage to the wall. (we mostly want is as a decoration item to liven up the room) I saw in the online presentation video about the apartments that the girls had a blanket/tapestry on the wall in their kitchen and a bead curtain in their doorway so I'm thinking a curtain is really no different.

basically I'm asking if we can have curtains...

Yes you can have curtains, but you should wait until you get down there since you could have 1 or 2 windows depending on your room.
