What Was Your Worst Character Greeting Moment?

When I was 15 I went with my parents and nieces to Disney World - and we had breakfast on the steam boat - not sure the name - this was about 19 years ago!

Anywho - Goofy (for some reason) developed a weird attraction to me and wouldn't leave me alone the entire time we tried to eat breakfast. My parents thought it was hilarious - but at 15, the last thing I wanted was a room full of strangers gawking at me.

So breakfast is over, we head off the ship and from behind, I hear Goofy running after me. He catches up to us, grabs my hand, then gets down on one knee, like he's proposing. I thought I was going to DIE....I was so embarassed.

My mom still makes reference to Goofy having a "thing" for me...funny now, but at 15 - not so much! I was horrified!

Ahh, the Empress Lilly riverboat. I remember it well.:lovestruc It was in Disney Marketplace (Downtown Disney)

Let me add this one....My kids and I stood in line at then MGM studios(now Hollywood studios) in WDW. We were in line for the Woody's roundup, around the site of the Hunchback of Notre Dame area. It was our turn and they had the cowgirl and Woody for Characters. The cowgirl took me by the hand and had me stand next to her for the pic while the kids were placed in a neat row. I felt the cowgirl's hand on my back and "she"(?) snapped the back of my bra strap! I thought well, they have those thick gloves on so maybe it was an accident , maybe she just cought her hand under the bra band. How ever "she" did it 3 more times while the picture was being taken! She had been pulling on my bra strap/band on the back and kept making it snap! I was young(27 or so), embarrassed, and not sure if I should say anything because my kids were there and I couln't believe it happend! To this day it still bothers me a great deal... I still can't believe that person did that to me and probably got his jollies doing it to others! I should have said something to someone...I know...i don't know if the person inside the costume was a man
or women. To this day when I see this pic of all of us it makes me sick...I never did tell my family what happend that day.

Snow White at Cinderellas Royal Table. She rushed around the room, skipped our table and then stood alone in a corner. We asked the waiter if it would be possible to meet her as she had gone to the tables on both sides of us but skipped ours, and it seemed she still had plenty of time, as the other princesses were still making rounds. He was very nice and talked to her. She headed straight for us and at last moment veered to the table beside us who had already met her. She then went back to the corner, ignoring us as we called to her. The waiter came back and asked us how we liked meeting Snow White, we told him what happened. He escorted her to our table this time She took one look at us, stamped her foot and said "I already did your table." Umm no. The CM was shocked. Then to top it all off she acted really, really wierd during our interaction. Not only rude but wierd. My DH and I are really and truly convinced that she was stoned.
The good news was that Aurora, Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother were fantastic and best of all the interaction was Belle!

All our encounters this trip were great - the only issue was my slight embarrassment at 1900 Park Fare Character Breakfast. DD5 had just seen Mary Poppins a few days previously for the first and only time. She said loudly as Ms. Poppins neared our table, "HEY! There's the lady from that movie!" :rotfl:

Two years ago....kids first trip. Sorcerer Mickey was trying to move DS4 closer to him for the picture. Grabbed him by the back of his shirt and knocked him over on his back. DS was not a happy camper in that photopass shot, but he recovered.

Same trip, also at DHS - Not an issue with a character, but with a handler. Daisy was out and we got in line. CM came up to us and said line was closed, so we got out of line, but stayed nearby to wave to Daisy when she was done. In the meantime, another father and son got in line. CM let them continue to stay in line. I approached CM and asked why they were able to stay in line....she said she hadn't noticed them join the line, and hated to ask them to leave now, so I asked if we could rejoin line, since we had been there before the other family. She again told us no and that the line was now closed. UGH! I understand the characters need breaks, and was happy to step out of line, but I would have liked to have seen consistency from the handler. Thankfully Daisy was sweet. When CM told her it was time to go, she realized what had happened and walked over to us and did a meet & greet. Handler told her there was not time for pictures, but Daisy posed anyways. Thank you Daisy!!!

We had this same Aurora in May. We met her in France and she was wonderful! She danced with DD and told DS he was very handsome. It was one of the best character interactions of our trip.

However... The Aurora we me at Akershus that same day was terrible. Completely dull and almost zombie-like.

We saw this Aurora in France on our trip last year too and she was amazing. DD3 was totally in love with her. After a long greet, DD got right back in line to see her again :goodvibes Later in the day, DD insisted on going back to see Aurora again, so we did. Aurora remembered her, called her by name, spent all kinds of time with her (we were last in line) and asked her if she would like to go back to her castle with her to live. Sweet thought....but DD really wanted to go :lmao:

A couple of trips ago...'Ohana. My DS6 went through a great love of Stitch. All things Stitch, Stitch all the time (thankfully he's grown out of this but unfortunately he's moved onto Star Wars!:darth:) But we have done the 'Ohana breakfast several times and its always been fantastic! Great food and wonderful character interaction. My DS has loved it.

I'm guessing it was 2007 was the bad one. Lilo, Mickey & Goofy were great as always. Stitch came last. He must've been in a hurry because he basically posed for a picture and signed the book and left. My DS looked at my DH and I with tears in his eyes and said, "I didn't even get to give him a hug." That just broke my heart. We tried to explain that there were a lot of other children who he needed to see and since he'd seen Stitch several times before that Stitch knew that my DS loved him. DS seemed okay with that explanation. Luckily, we took our chances and went back next trip and Stitch was "his old self"--spending some time and playfully annoying everyone.

The only bad experience I have ever had was at 'Ohana breakfast this past September (BTW other than this experience I have ALWAYS had fabulous character interaction here).
At the beginning of the breakfast my waitress overheard me tell my DBF how excited I was to see Stitch (he's my favorite!) and she was wonderful and said to make sure we flag her down when Stitch gets close so she could take our picture.
Stitch came, the waitress took our pic (she has been at our table already), and Stitch literally just walked away! My autograph book was out and I didn't get a signature. He didn't play around or anything. The waitress was a little embarrased and said that she was going to bring him back but I said just let it be.
I saw the same Stitch lightly push (push is a strong word...I can't think of a better word) a little girl off of him when he was trying to get away from her. Granted the parents should have been paying attention to what she was doing but there was no reason for Stitch to be so mean!
I guess everyone has bad days, even Disney characters!

I just read this! Maybe it was the same Stitch we had!

i have 2 bad characters experiences..

1st.. 2cd.. was with pocahontas at animal kingdom.. we walk up to her with no line and she sigh's our books :) then we get a picture and leave. the only things she said was 'hey' and 'hope you're having fun' she was really poring.

2cd... when at epcot we say alladin twice but as we got to the line he was just leaving both times :( so latter we say him in future world and got really excited. we were exausted from walking and he says"come follow me, this way" so we follow him around in circles and all over these fountains and then we stop. he thought it was so funny but we were just kinda annoyed with him.

this was a really funny character moment for us.. and we always laugh about it.

we went to epcot for the day and i really wanted to meet alice in wonderland. so when i see her and mary poppins in UK pavillion i start getting really excited. i sprinted as fast as i could and got in line. what i didnt know was that i was in line for mary poppins, no alice.

we thought they met together and it was just one big line but nope. so we go up to mary and have a good meet with her :) then not knowing there was another live we walk straight over to alice and start talking to her.

the CM was going crazy and yelling"alice stop talking to them" "stop sighing that autograph" but alice just ignored her and kept on meeting with us. it was hilarious:)

I just read this! Maybe it was the same Stitch we had!

That's what I thought after I read your post! That was literally the only bad experience I have ever had at 'Ohana (including the time that Goofy...or Pluto...can't remember which...broke my sunglasses by accident!)

On our first time eating at Princess Storybook Bkfast, all the princesses were wonderful---except Aurora! She had zero personality and acted half asleep!! Our DD's were little, and didn't seem to notice, but DH and I make sleepy princess jokes the rest of the trip!

That is mine too! Everytime we've encountered Aurora she seems annoyed to have to sign an autograph book and pose for a picture. I don't think she's even said as much as a hello to us. We've seen her at character meals, maybe she's in better spirits in the parks. Not sure I'm going to stand in line to find out.

The worst for us was meeting Naveen from Princess and the Frog. It was before the movie came out and so my little one had no idea what to expect. He was nervous about meeting Naveen and the handler told me they could slowly introduce Naveen into the picture. So we get up there and the handler gets distracted and forgets about the slow intro. I tell Naveen that my little one is nervous and I ask if he could stay back for a second. He snapped at us 'Leaving Tiana alone is not going to happen, you can take your picture with both of us or none'.

Needless to say the picture was a mess!

Eyeore had a total attitude when we were at CP in Nov 2008. I wanted to take 2 pictures with my camera, and he just had a fit! lol.

Actually, our whole experience with CP on that trip was a bummer. Pooh never made it to our table (passed right by us). When I mentioned to the CM who was working with the characters that were had been there over an hour, the kids were getting restless and wanting to leave, and we were still waiting for Pooh, he got snippy with me.

We stopped going to CP.

I think we had the same Pocahontas in Dec. She was a bore and didnt talk. When we saw her again my DH told DD to skip her because she was kinda rude the 1st time..

DH did not like Peter Pan when we were there in March. Cannot remember the problem he had with him (he is in Atlanta on business at the moment) but the look DH is giving Peter

DH adding-
Peter made some type of comment (cannot remember what it was exactly) and I just gave him the look.
Out of the 76 characters we met during our visit, how perfect the CM's fit their characters, Peter just totally took the magic away during this meeting.
How I wish I could remember what he said.

Just wanted to give an update that Peter is now off the naughty list in our house. We all were thrilled with Peter this go around in April.

Every time I have met Aurora, I have found her to have zero personality. I don't get it.

Our first trip in '07 we met a wonderful Aurora...we actually met "a friend of Aurora" in the DTD Pin Store while looking at princess pins - she approached me, my mom and my dd and asked who our favorite princess was (mine is, coincidentally, Aurora) and we chatted with her for awhile (she didn't let anything slip ;)) and she asked if we had reservations at Akershus. We did for the next morning and she told us to say a special 'hello' to Aurora. The next morning she was there in costume, remembered all our names and gave dd lots of special attention both at breakfast, and when we saw her again later that day in France. Since then all the Auroras have been distinctly lacking in either the looks or personality dept. :confused3 Not sure why that would be?

We've never had a terrible experience but our last trip this May it was pretty clear that Piglet in CP and Terrence (Fairies) were just 'calling it in' - not rude or anything, just not nearly as engaging as the other characters we met. And Mulan on our last trip was distinctly South Asian looking - she certainly didn't look at all close to the movie character.

And for the Eeyore fan...if it makes you feel any better we've tried to meet Santa (any of them) probably close to 15 times and have been successful just once in Canada!

I'm always so sad when I hear about bad experiences with Aurora. On my trip in June, I went with my friend's 4 little girls to meet the princesses. Aurora was the best! She was beautiful and had an amazing personality. She spent the most time with the girls and they were truly mesmerized. Just wanted to give everyone hope that there are some truly special friends of Aurora out there!

Here's Aurora - It was a highlight of our day!:

Defiently when Belle Snubed me at Cindrellas Royal Table, she was too much ocupied with my little niece to not even take a photo with me, at least Belle at epcot was nicer.
