What was your most magical moment?

Share a story about one or more of the most memorable/magical moments you've had at Disney?

We are taking DS to Disney for his 4th birthday and this is a first trip for all of us. We are so excited about our trip. I don't have any unrealistic expectations about what will happen, but I just love hearing about everyone's special/magical moments.


So what was yours?? (Feel free to share more than one)

When me and my little sister were picked to be the prince and princess of the day and my little sister got to ride Cinderella's personal horse on the carousel. She was completely oblivious to it at the time she was more interested in riding it more than anything, but if you ask me it was cool

Also on that same trip I believe we somehow made it to RD at MK and when Mickey came out to let everyone in the park my little sister almost fainted, she was literally shaking out of excitement and the family standing next to us, the mother asked her children why they werent as excited as my little sister.

I've had a few, but the one that really stands out is our oldest DS's first trip. He had just turned 6, and was a precocious little guy. He would occasionally mention something about the characters just being people in costumes and stuff like that. Everything "magical", from attractions to characters, he had an explanation for.

Well, we got a spot one night for the fireworks over by the Plaza at MK. When Tinkerbell flew out and pretty much right over us, his face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Momma, she's real! I can't believe it! This really IS the most magical place on earth!!"

Well, I cried (and DH and my mother, who was with us, teared up quite a bit too). He hugged me and said, "Thank you for bringing me here, I'm the luckiest kid in the world!"

This is absolutely my favorite WDW memory.

The first time we went - back in 2000 - dd was chosen to participate in one of the parades. It was really cool! I didn't even realize how cool it was until a few years ago.

I wish I could take ownership of this one, but my BFF went with her family several years ago and was selected to spend the night in the castle. She said it was the most amazing experience ever! I'm still jealous! LOL!

My mom and I were in AK and were asked to be in the parade. It was a totally awesome experience and one I will never ever FORGET. Disney really is a magical place!

Our first day on our first trip, my DD was excited, but not wild. But when we got around the lollipop road and onto Main Street, and she saw the castle and gasped, I cried.

Our most magical moment was being Grand Marshalls at the 3:00 MK parade back in 2005!! It was a wonderful surprise when we were selected on Main Street that morning by the CM Dean.

I have a few, but when I read your comment about not having unrealistic expectations I knew exactly which one to share.

It was Easter time - crazy busy. We had been out at the parks all day and it was about 10 pm (it is just me and my DD, she was 7 last trip). We felt like something to eat and popped into the resort gift shop and picked up a bag of cinnamon bagels, then filled our resort mugs with soda and went and sat out by the pool at ASMu where we were staying. The pool and surrounding area was quite loud and lively, very festive atmosphere and we found a table right on the edge against the grass and bushes where we sat. As we sat in silence smiling at each other a wave of contentment washed over me. Suddenly I could hear the crickets and feel the light breeze blowing through my hair and the way the lights caught DD's face made her eyes shine in an almost surreal way. It was as if everything around us disappeared and it was just the two of us in our own world, enjoying just "being", if you know what I mean. After sitting for some time in silence DD almost whispered to me: "Mom, this is what I love about Disney. All we care about is that we love each other". Now that to me, is the essence of pure Disney Magic.

This isn't something that happens often, because it's only one family every day. In 2006, on the last day of our vacation, my family was the Magic Kingdom Family of the Day. We got to enter the park early, we were given autograph books, and met 10 characters (including the big four). We rode from ToonTown into the Main St. Statiion and were part of the opening ceremony (we threw confetti over the railing).

We got pictures with Mickey, the Mayor of Main Street, and all 10 characters, a coupon from a free picture, and a certificate. It was a blast.

We took our now 3 YO DD on her first trip to DW in January of 09 when she was 22 months old. We really didn't think she'd get much out of the trip but we went anyway. On our first morning in MK we took her to ride Winnie the Pooh and when we came back outside Pooh and Tigger were at their spot doing their meet and greet. We decided to get in line and let her meet them. We waited our turn and when it was our turn I thought I was going to have to coax her into going over to meet them. Boy was I wrong, the minute I let go of her hand she ran right over to Pooh and buried her tiny little body into his and stayed there. It was the cutest thing any of us had ever seen and, if we'd let her, I think she would have stayed right there all day. My mom got it on video and it makes me smile every time I watch it.

Yep! Only a couple weeks to go......... Now that I'm in the teens in the countdown, I really want to start packing haha.

My 3 y/o son has special needs and our whole trip was magical! He really flourished under the constant over stimulation. Even though he refused to wear the 3d glasses, Toy Story Mania was his favorite ride. We were lucky enough to ride it twice, and the second time, once we were in line and he realized where we were he got so excited and had the biggest grin! We even ended up buying the wii game for home and he'll sit and watch us play it for hours!

Yep! Only a couple weeks to go......... Now that I'm in the teens in the countdown, I really want to start packing haha.

Go on, start packing! I know a few DISers leaving in 2 months. They have packed their cases and actually taken them to relatives to store until departure day!

I've been to Disney more times than I can count during my 26 years of life. Ever since I was little I would take the pictures I took to show my grandmother. Everytime she would tell me that she enjoyed my pictures because she would probably never go to Disney because Pop didn't want to go to a silly theme park. It used to break my heart because I knew that even if we took her she would never leave my pop behind.

Finally, last summer we convinced my grandmom and pop to come with me to Disney. That whole trip was my favorite moment because it was finally a dream come true for my grandmom. I'd never seen her so happy and my Pop ended up loving disney too!

Most magical moment for me was in 2006 when my daughter got married at the outdoor pavilion at the Boardwalk.

You see, my family of mom & dad & 5 DDs lived in the northeast. I moved to SoFla after HS graduation. Others scattered, but still in the northeast. So when my daughter got engaged to a SoFla man, I didn't think anyone could realistically afford to come to WDW for the wedding. Well, everyone came (except dad, who was deceased). The wedding event was special in itself, but us five daughters (sans husbands) and mom (plus some grandkids) on a family vacation again, just like when we were teenagers and single 25 years ago, well, it would be hard to top that for magical!

I live in WV now. On a recent family visit (NJ) we all talked about going down to Disney together again because it had been so much fun!

Went to DL in 2004. Left the park around 4PM, home to have G'Ma and G'Pa to have dinner, and DW and DD 6 pooped out and didn't want to go back to DL for evening hours. DD 9 and I went back and had a blast. I felt like a kid hurrying from ride to ride, and DD felt like a grown up being out with dad-just the 2 of us going ride to ride. Rode BTMRR during the parade and fireworks.....as we came out of the first steep climb under the water fall we had a picture perfect view of fireworks. Every time we came out of the mountain we could see the fireworks from the train. Truly Magical. She still talks about it to this day…..that makes me smile every time!!

Me too! I love these stories! Although my favorite magical moment happens every time I go-- the first time I see the castle. Brings tears to my eyes...my husband thinks I'm sappy but I don't care!
