can include work experience and stuff like that.

mine was work experience in a garden centre for a week in 2008 , it was ok.

Surf Side Spuds food court at the mall, they served french fries and loaded baked potatoes. Loved that job.

Inventory Control during 2 summers before graduation. This was at Db's place of employment. It was for work experience during vacation relief. I rec'd minimum wage. This led to a job of the same description after graduation.

Besides babysitting which I started at 11, my first real job was as a Medical Records clerk at a hospital. I started at $3+ over minimum wage and got to pick my hours each week. (Basically I emailed each week my availability so that they knew when to leave me stuff to do). I usually worked about 8-10 hours a week during the school year and 20-25 during the summer (I was a nanny for another 40 hours each week). I left after 6 years and I was making close to $12 an hour! It was a great first job!!!!!

Newspaper Delivery for Newsday (An Afternoon Mon-Sat paper) when I was 12. Forty papers and I made about $5.00 per week.

My first job was at Chick-fil-A at 15. Moved up within the store, then company. Stayed with them for 15 years. Good company and atmosphere for a first time job.

Construction work for my uncle when I was 15. The following Summer, I worked for Six Flags as first a cashier, then in the Games Dept.

Edit: I made $5 an hour for my uncle and $3.10 an hour at Six Flags (1983).

Newspaper carrier for the Wilmington News Journal. Delaware newpaper.
Great first job, nothing like it is now... walking and biking in all weather to get people there morning and evening papers. Then going door to door to collect payments. Learned alot at 14(I think, but may have been younger).

OMgoodness Yes. I'd forgotten all about it. One of my two brothers and I delivered the before and after school paper. We were around 9 (he) 11 (me).

One of our customers was the HMCS Star (Naval) Officer's (Club?) do not remember the official name.

They were located in our harbour area. In the dead of winter it was brutally cold. They were phenominal Christmas tippers!

A great work ethic experience. A thread could probably be interesting in the area of what we "learned" but perhaps more interesting from a newspaper boy/girl's perspective. ;)

summer I was 13, I had a full-time babysitting job for 2 little kids, the next summer I was 14 and detasseled corn. I hated detasseling, but it was kind of a rite of passage in our area. Almost all kids did it at least one season! When I was 15, I got a job at our local drive-inn restaurant and stayed there all through high school. Even met my DH there!
