What was your first experience with police?

"Officer Friendly" visiting the 1st grade classroom. 2nd encounter was the bad one, underage drinking at 15 YO. After that it was just my right foot getting me in trouble in the car.

My daughter got pulled over on a smaller State road. She told me she got a ticket. She was doing 55 and didn't slow down when it changed to 45. This is out in the middle of nowhere of an empty road. I just asked, "did you learn your lesson?"

A week later I texted her, "Well, I'm joining as a new member to your Route 308 speeder's club." I was hopping however already doing 65 in the 55 and not slowing down when it hit 45 zone.

My father was a commissioner and when I was little I used to go to work with him and the officers would “lock” me in a cell, tour me through the jail and let me check out their cop cars. My dad was their boss and they were all very extra special nice to me, probably because they wanted to get in good with him.

My Uncle was a mounted policeman and he was on patrol near the Woolworth's on Broad Street in Philly when I was little. My grandmother would take me shopping there with her, and when he was on duty we'd stop and say hello to him. I was allowed to pet the horse, and that was always the highlight of my day.

Probably when I went out for a McDonalds breakfast with some as part of our reward for being a patrol.

The day I was born. My police officer dad held me.
Held you in custody? As a baby, I'm sure you were charged with being adorable and found guilty of reckless cuteness.

I've been there too. I was one to hit the bottle like crazy.

When I was 21 I went to a big NYE bash/block party. My date and I became separated. I looked all over for him, but with the insane crowds and my feeling pretty good with the libations, it was a lost cause. After 40 minutes I gave up.

Only problem ... he was my ride and I was alone. And I was not lucky to run into any friends either. There were sooo many people.

I flagged down 2 policemen and told them of my situation and could they give me a ride home. Remember this is 1995, Uber didn't exist and cabs were few and far between.

The cops took me home. But boy, they teased me pretty hard on that ride for getting ditched on NYE. :lmao:

My brother being attacked
Junior HS age sat in the back of a Police car for questioning on Trespassing. It wasn't a big deal as my friends and I did no harm. It was an old abandoned mansion that sat for years behind a small shopping strip.

My dad died when I was 9. Several years later someone called for him repeatedly over the course of several days and my mom said he wasn't available could she take a message. After a series of those calls this person called again and said "stop lying to me, he has been dead for years". So my mom called the Sheriff and they came out and took a report. No more calls, and nothing ever became of it.

until 1st grade when we moved, our neighbor was a police officer.

Young, maybe 6 or 7, someone called the cops on my parents saying they were hurting us. They came late after we were asleep and pulled us out of bed to ask us questions. I was confused because my parents never did and now that I think of it, it was a scary situation for my parents.

:confused3 With the exception of a few speeding tickets over the years, and attending at the local station to fill out an accident report (needed here for insurance purposes), I don't think I've ever had any interactions with the police.

Actually talking to one I was probably about 8 or 9. My dad was a small town doctor and it would've been 1969 or 70 so the landline phone was it for communication. Someone hadn't gotten the phone hung up correctly and no one could get through. Apparently dad was needed at the hospital (it was also before we had hospitalists at our local hospital so nurses ran the place after hours and doctors had to live nearby and were called in on a rotating schedule) so the police showed up at our door. My brother and I tied for who got to the door first and we both just stood there and stammered. We were just glad one of us hadn't been on the phone. We had a 3 minute timer next to the phone, but sometimes we cheated! We would have been in trouble!!

Same here, and as a result I saw and knew many in the town I grew up in my entire childhood. In addition, my mother’s sister married a police officer, one of my father’s sisters did also, and her husband’s brother was a policeman, and his brother-in-law was a court officer. So every family event always had two or more law enforcement people in attendance.

First one i really remember is my kindergarten or maybe first grade field trip. We visited the local police station and they locked us in a cell. I remember being scared

I think it was a car wreck when I was a teenager. A truck coming around a curve lost control and started tipping over. I took the ditch. The deputy who was first on scene said he was really impressed I didn’t roll my car when I did that.

When I was 18 and driving my '68 VW Beetle, I got pulled over for having my "muffler" too loud. It was really the larger tail pipes I had installed on the car, but he didn't realize that. I told him that I was heading to the VW dealer right now to have it fixed, which was on the same road. All lies!! He never gave me a ticket, which at that time he could have.
