I thought some of the choices were interesting and some would appear on any list I made.

Cheers
St. Elsewhere
Six Feet Under
Mary Tyler Moore
Newhart
Homicide: Life on the Street
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Everybody Loves Raymond
M*A*S*H
The Sopranos
'Dallas'
'The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson'
'Late Night With David Letterman'
'Seinfeld'
'The Wonder Years'
'The West Wing'
'Mad About You'
'Arrested Development'
'The Cosby Show'
'Happy Days'
'All In The Family'
'Friends'
'Magnum P.I.'
'Quantum Leap'
'Star Trek: The Next Generation'
'Angel'

I guess my favorite on that list would have been the All in the Family finale. I cried like a baby!

Lots of the shows I really liked ended with no finale like My So Called Life.

MASH. I remember when it ended--I worked at a convenience store and our boss had brought in a tv for us to watch the finale. We did not have one customer for the entire duration of the show.

I am sure there are several, but M*A*S*H stands out the most for me.

My favorite all time show finale was "Star Trek" Voyager" :thumbsup2 . M*A*S*H was another great one.

How about show-finales that you think are on your REALLY disliked list?

I absolutely HATED (and still get ticked-off about) the show-finale for "Star Trek: Enterprise", "Stargate: SG-1"s was off the mark for me as well. And while "Homicide" is one of my favorite shows ever (for many reasons!), I am not fond of their show-finale, mostly because of the seeming stunt-casting that went on. It seemed like the show brought in characters/actors who had never been seen before (like Jason Priestley's cop?). Now, IMO everything else about the episode was pretty much spot-on.

agnes!

Loved the Sex and the City finale, its my favorite show of all time and I loved the way they ended it.

From that list I'd have to go with Mary Tyler Moore. :thumbsup2 The worst from that list hands down is Seinfeld. I loved that show but that ending was bad!

MASH and Star Trek TNG (All Good Things...)

IMO the two worst ever are Seinfeld and Star Trek Enterprise.

My favorite was the Newhart show--I fell off the couch laughing. I also loved the Mary Tyler Moore ending, it was great. I liked MASH's ending too. Sex & City was great too, I just loved the way they ended it.

Hated Seinfeld's ending. What a bad ending to a great show.

Newhart was a good one. Although I will admit to being young enough that my mom had to explain to me who the woman he woke up next to in bed was.

LOVED Mary Tyler Moore, MASH was disturbing but a fitting ending to the show.

I find a lot of series finales to be a let down- I'm always expecting something bigger than a normal episode.

I did love the finale of Sex in the City. Everyone was settled and happy, loose ends were tied. I hope they don't ruin that with the movie!

Oh, and the way they ended Roseanne was kinda unexpected.

I haven't seen a lot of the shows on the list.

I would have put Newhart as the top if the whole episode was as good as the last scene. But as I remember it, the rest of the episode was pretty average at best.

Another one I loved, but very few people ever saw, was the last Sports Night. What made it great is that it served as both a possible finale AND a setup for more if by some miracle the show was renewed.

Six Feet Under is the best... haunting, sad, hopeful. The ending montage was a perfect summary of the series in a few minutes.

St. Elsewhere was absolutely the worst in my opinion. After years of watching and learning about these characters, caring about their lives, being with them through thick and thin, we are slapped in the face to find out none of them actually existed - they were all in Tommy's (?) imagination. I felt so robbed by the writers' cheap sophomoric trick.

You thought they were real people up until then? ;)

Seriously, I was a big fan of the show and I thought it was a brilliant, imaginative ending.

From that list, my favorites are Arrested Development and Buffy. Those shows are my favorite TV comedy and drama of all time, respectively. The way they ended Angel was really cool, but they killed my favorite people, so it's not my favorite.
