What was your favorite restaurant that no longer exists?

Oh yes, how can I forget...Spoodles. I will miss Spoodles. We loved it when it first opened and that a few years later it went downhill BUT they seemed to get things together again a few years ago and we started going back again and NOW we'll miss it. :( But we will give Kouzzina a try our next visit and I'll report back to let you know how it is.

Funny, I know there was a thread on here recently about hummus and a poster asked what it was.;) I'm sure there are those that aren't familiar with it but Spoodles was the first place I ever tasted it several years ago and it was awesome and so was their hitipi dip. Luckily I found the recipes on here however I still can't get the hummus right. Spoodles definitely made the best hummus! But thanks to the DISers that posted the recipes!:thumbsup2

My DW and I miss Sum Chow's in the Dolphin. We loved their fried spinach (so delicate and unique) and the China Doll dessert.

Portobello Yacht Club...from 10 years ago. The one that would give you a sample of sangria when you sat down and always brought out heads of roasted garlic and butter. The PYC that still had the rosemary chicken with mashed potatoes and Bistecca. It used to be our nearly once a week local place to go.....then it went dddddddddddddooooooooown. Sigh...sad.

There are quite a few restaurants our family misses - Flaglers, Ariels, Top of the World (especially the Sunday Brunch) and Minnie's Menehune.

Jezebella - I agree with you I too miss the Portobello Yacht Club of 10 years ago. Our family used to dine there often (at least once a trip). I remember loving the food there and the Sangria was fantastic. We haven't been there in a few years because last time we were there it wasn't as good as it used to be.

(1) Empress Lily [the "formality" and service staff]
(2) Fireworks Factory [the "informality" and service staff]
(3) Flagler's [the "atmosphere" and service staff]

and, for all three - of course - the FOOD !

I went for my first time in March 1999 with my now DH and his family. One place that really stood out was the Mexican restraunt at Epcot. Now, I know it is still there, but it is ran by a different owner I believe and the food is nothing compared to what it was then. I was so impressed when they came to our table with fresh ingredients and little burner and they cooked it right there, it was pretty cool and very good. We went back there a few times since and we think it gets worse each time.

I'm with Mickeysbestfriend--Papeete Bay Verandah is the one we miss the most. They had a 3 piece combo and a hula dancer entertaining each evening to go along w/ dinner.
Wonderful spot!!!!

The one that I miss the most is Tony's in the MK for breakfast. We would always make a point of having breakfast here on every trip. It was so nice to have someplace in the park where you could order breakfast from a menu. The food was very good also.

Pasta Piazza in Epcot. I don't remember it for the food as much as the tradition it became for us.

Tony's breakfast would be mysecond choice of places we miss. Why they closed that is beyond me. Was always nice having breakfast there first thing, watching the mob swarm up Main St. as we relaxed and took our time eating.

We also used to have breakfast when we first entered the park at Tony's. Sometimes when our kids were young we would go ride the rides in Fantsyland and then head back to Tony's for breakfast. It was also nice the\at you could just give your name and wait a few minutes for a table. No need for an ADR. I have nothing against the Buffet at the Crystal Palace but it was nice to order of the menu in the park.

Our favorite was the Fireworks Factory at Pleasure Island. We ate there in 1990 and 1991.

was at the Garden Grill when they served the t-bone steaks for breakfast and we were on the Gold Key plan that was truly all inclusive...we ate like kings!

second choice was the Tangorra Terrace! It was amazing!

Ariel's and Flagers.

ITA  ....especially about Flaglers ....I wish Disney would refurb Citricos back to the good old days of ......Beautiful Breakfasts upstairs at the Grand...and wonderful , wonderful Italian style dinners there !!:cloud9:

Ariel`s was at the Y&BC.....wonderful seafood there as well:love: !!

Alfredo's in Italy at Epcot mainly because of the memories. The first time we ate their it was the first night of DW and I's honeymoon and our waiter made it a special meal. We were on whatever the all-inclusive meal package was then and he showed us how to eat WAY TOO MUCH food on that plan!

Totally agree on:

Alfredo's in Italy (can't believe it's gone! ARG)
Tony's Town Square for Breakfast (miss my Lady and the Tramp waffle)
Empress Lily!
Tusker House retro (loved the breakfast pastries)

One that nobody else pointed out:

Bonfamille's at Port Orleans. Cajun Food. My parents and i miss the wings! And the chocolate cake. woo.

Tangorora Terrace

Crockett's Tavern

Make your own pizza and banjo singalong at Ft. Wilderness

Palios

Juan and Only's

Hollywood and Vine Cafeteria

Crystal Palace before it became a character meal

I miss the old Askershus when they had both the cold buffet and hot buffet....and before it became Princess for all 3 meals.

Also loved the CS Tusker House. As someone else previously mentioned the Salmon was awesome and reasonable. Truly was the best CS in WDW (imo).

The last thing I miss (not specific to a restaurant) was the nice piece of chocolate you got with your bill at the end of a TS meal. It was such a nice little gesture, and I really miss those little Mickey chocolates.

I had forgotten about the Fireworks Factory! DH and I ate there on our honeymoon! And I loved the old Chef Mickey's!

I will definitely miss Spoodles as well!
