What was your favorite now closed disney resturant?

I totally miss Minnie Mia's we ate there so much when I was a kid. Also miss Merryweather's does anyone else remember that? I loved that they had all the stations they had fabulous chicken and the best tuna salad sandwich I've ever had. They also had this crazy delicious fried dough dessert thing.

I also miss when Pecos Bill's had terriyaki burgers and waffle fries YUM!

Can I add Harry's Safari to my list? Had one of the best appetizers ever there--mushrooms stuffed with sausage and topped with cheese. There were at least 6 large mushrooms--a total portion larger than many entrees I see today.
Their beer selection was excellent--a beer brewed just for them, plus Rattlesnake and Dixie Blackened Voodo.
They had the entree portions of meat and fish displayed in a case as you walked into the restaurant.
And a final touch of bringing out all the coffee/tea extras in a wooden treasure chest box. For sweeteners they featured rock candy on a stick!!

we loved Crystal Palace as a cafeteria and Tusker House as a Counter Service.

We also LOVED Crystal Palace before it changed to a character meal. Sad to say, we haven't been back....but something tells me Disney is doing just fine w/o us. :rotfl:

We also miss Tusker House. Their roasted chicken was amazing!

Does anyone remember Chef Mickey's when it was in DTD at the MarketPlace? It was a TS and it was smaller and more intimate.

Okay, this thread was inspiring enough for me to post my first response  I'm SO glad to see someone mentioned the Garden Galley at the old Disney Inn! It was this hidden gem, off the beaten track! I can remember going there for their incredible lunch fruit buffet and the out-of-this-world onion cheese bread, served warm in a clay pot. OMG!!!!!

Got to be Bonfamille at Port Orleans (Now POFQ). Reasonable prices, good food, and romantic (rear coutyard view).

I miss the Fisherman's Deck on the Empress Lilly. (I also liked the Steerman's Quarters, and of course, the Empress Room, but the Fisherman's Deck holds special memories for me.)

I can remember being a teenager and taking the bus to go there with a friend for lunch (no parents!). As we were ordering our lobsters (on a meal plan), I realized that the other diners probably thought we were young adults out for a lunch. It was the first time I felt like an adult, and I loved it.

I also miss the Gulf Coast Room in the Contemporary Resort. It was wonderful!

Loved the Gulf Coast Room with the wandering violinist. Really miss the Empress Room, Ariels, Spoodles was a favorite with us. Loved Papeete Bay Restaurant for dinner. Tangaroa Terrace for breakfast. There were so many good ones. Loved the Garden Gallery for lunch, and while it is still the Garden Gallery it isn't the same Garden Gallery. They had great French fried ice cream.

I have not seen anyone mention Flagler's which is where Citricos is now. I went there as a 13 year old with the Family when we were on the "gold key plan" (think DDP with almost no restrictions). I got Filet and Lobster...we loved it so much we came back later in the week and I got the same thing. A great memory.

Many have mentioned the Fireworks Factory. I believe that they had a huge Toll House sunday that was a huge cookie with ice cream and had lit sparklers coming out of the top.

I miss the Empress Room, also went on that same trip as a 13 yr old...A real first for an truly upscale restaurant for me.

I remember whatever was at narcoose's. I got blackened alligator and for desert the 7 seas 7 scoop spectaluar, which was a huge sunday.

After 30 trips to Disney, I find it weird that all the closed restaurants that I remember were all on one trip. I should call my mom and thank her for taking us on the Gold Key Plan.

I remember when Narcoossee's had alligator--boy has the menu changed since then!!

You're correct. Although my parents couldn't afford to eat there, I knew about it, and always wondered about the menu and service; it was very fine dining, according to the guide books.

Any board members ever eat here?

Yes, we ate at the Gulf Coast Room when I was growing up. Wonderful.

You are all bringing back so many memories for me. Au Petit, Garden Grill breakfast, Brunch at Top of the World, Papeete Bay buffet breakfast, Empress Room, Ariel's, King Stefan's, Magnolia Room, the Gold Key Plan.....Ahhh, those were the days.

Yes! Beaver tails!! They got rid of them when I was in college, they were there one week, gone the next.....so sad! It was one of the best parts of snacking around the world!

And while the Tusker House is still there, and still good....I REALLY loved their offerings for CS, especially the chicken salad :)

I have two. The first is Adventureland Veranda. I worked there when I needed a job. The hamburgers were weird with pineapple on it.
The other was one I LOVED. The Empress Lilly had some really great food and even better memories

Places our family misses:

Liberty Tree - When dinner included the characters.

Chef Mickey's - When the food was actually good as well as the character interaction.

Pinocchios Village at Magic Kingdom - When it use to be a good place for hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, etc. It had a great condiment bar with hot and cold toppings. Menu has since changed.

Spoodles on the Boardwalk.

Not too pleased with many of the limited menus at current restaurants and of course the exceptionally high prices.

We loved the Fireworks Factory at Pleasure Island! We miss it but have fond memories of some delicious dinners and wonderful ice cream sundaes... YUM-YUM!

I miss the Adventureland Veranda. The building is just SITTING there!!! What a waste.
