What was your favorite now closed disney resturant?

9. Town Square Restaurant in MK when it was sponsered by either Oscar Meyer or Delmonte - I rember they had a great Monte Cristo

My parents ate there on their honeymoon in 1978. My mom (that would be CoolDisneyCat, above) still talks about the Monte Cristo!

I miss the original Chef Mickey's at the marketplace. They had an amazing chicken pot pie.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I loved that chicken pot pie. And the restaurant was so relaxed and laidback compared to the character buffet now.

I also miss Tusker House when it was CS. Yum!

My favorite now defunct Disney restaurant was from when I was a kid and my parents took me to Disney. We would always go to Chip & Dale's Breakfast Jamboree at Fort Wilderness. (Previously it was Melvin the Moose breakfast show i think). It played in the same hall where the Hoop Dee Doo is played now. Pretty much a morning version of the Hoop Dee Doo and I remember they had great food, good character interaction, and gave out kazoos for you to play as loud as possible during the final song. I wish they would bring a character breakfast show back to Fort Wilderness. I loved that show.

After posting, I wanted to find out more info about the show and found this link; enjoy.

Thanks so much for mentioning this! I fondly remember the Melvin the Moose breakfast (and everyone yelling "Wake up, you silly moose"). But whenever I bring it up, no one else seems to remember. Yes, those kazoos-I remember that they let the kids keep their kazoos, and when we got on the bus afterwards, the bus driver made an announcement, politely yet firmly and a little grumpy about how everyone was to keep their kazoos in their pocket and NOT play the kazoo on the bus ride.

I am glad you mentioned everyone yelling "Wake up, you silly moose." I had forgotten about that until you mentioned it. I know I still have my kazoo in a box somewhere at the house. Great memories!

I miss the old Roaring Forks at WL...

Back in the early 00's, they were grab and go, but they offered a nightly dinner special..

Saturday nights was hot open faced turkey sanwhich's. They were to DIE for. DH and I were PAP holders at that time, and we would always go in for dinner there. They used big pieces of real turkey, mashed potatoes, and texas toast...They eventually scaled it back more and more, then fazed it out completely.

When I asked about it, was told they actually had complaints from ppl wanting it back and to contact someone about it. Of course, that did nothing, and now Roaring Forks is a shadow of its once former self.

The original San Angel Inn at Epcot when it first opened.

It was as close as you could get to formal dining at Epcot. Waiters in formal attire with service at table side for certain dishes (ie. queso fundido) and very attentive to service. Candlelight dining and not run of the mill Mexican food, but more delicate and refined Mexican cuisine that I have not had anywhere since. Sad as to now it is more standard Mexican fare that you can find at most every Mexican restaurant (at least where I live).

Oh, and also lets not forget the telephone booths in Epcot that you had to use to make same day dining reservation, maybe that needs to come back.

I miss the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary and even though it was a counter service location, I also miss the Food & Fun Center which was also located at the Contemporary.

I'm so glad you posted...people think I'm delusional when I recall the excellent lunch we had at San Angel the first time I visited WDW (24 years ago). It was so peaceful and the food was amazing.

I think I miss the old Crocket's Tavern at Fort Wilderness the most. Years ago, Crocket's used to have 'make your own' pizza where you would make up the pizza yourself (cheese, toppings etc.) and then the staff would bake it up. As a kid I used to love nighttime after the parks when we would stop at Crocket's for pizza time

I never got to enjoy this but my DH talks about it all the time. It was one of his favorite things to do as a kid. He misses it too.

Oh and we really miss King Stefan's Banquet Hall before it became CRT. The prime Rib was to die for and the Mickey Mouse Butter that stood up tall on a plate. The thing we miss most are the glass mugs that you could buy to take home. They are my DH's favorite glasses to drink out of.

My first meal in the Castle was lunch at King Stefan's...they served a really good vegetable soup in a small pewter cauldron with a lid. I thought that was so cool

There are quite a few I miss, in no particular order:

Top of The World @ The Contemporary (original one where Cali Grill is now)-they had the best breakfast buffet!!
Coral Isle Cafe-The Poly-the Chicken Maori was the bomb!!!
Concourse Steakhouse-best steak I have had so far!!

I also miss the Handwiches you could get out of The Land Pavilion in Epcot..anyone else remember those???

The pizza they used to have at the now TomorrowLand Noodle Station

I remember those booths, you could see who you were talking to and they would make the reservations for you..as soon as you got into the park that day you made a beeline for those booths to get the restaurant & time that you wanted

how about all those little special touches that made you remember you were at Disney while sitting at all the restaurants...special molded butter in the shape of the Walt Disney World emblem at the time. Does anyone remember those?? you got bread at dinner time and they would bring out a bowl filled with ice cold butter in the shape of a D with mouse ears inside the D (I think there was)...I also miss the Fiesta Fun Center at the Contemporary. They used the have an artist that would do caricatures. My mom still has the one of my sister and I from 1975(?) in the original bag they put it in..OOOHH the memories...

Definitely lunch at the Garden Grill. No one I travel with likes doing it for dinner...:sad1:

Spoodles for breakfast-we loved doing breakfast there.
Concourse Steakhouse-was a must-do lunch on one of our MK days every trip.

I haven't been to Cinderella's Royal Table but King Stefan's Banquet Hall was amazing... The Mickey Mouse butter especially. I also specifically remember these delicious vegetables that were cut very thin and possibly roasted so they were crunchy and sweet. Weird that I can recall that, hahaha.

The only other defunct place I ever got to go to was Tusker House when it was a counter service and it was AMAZING. I had a salad there that I still dream about.

I wish I could find this on YouTube. There's a little footage of Melvin, but none with the "wake up" moment.

In our home, "mooses" are very popular, and they're classified as either "silly mooses" or "fierce mooses". (Yes, in our house, the plural is definitely "mooses".)
