What was your favorite experience from a DCL ship?

luv2travel, can you tell me what font you used on your double dip picture. looks like a disney font but where did it come from?:surfweb:

These stories are beautiful! I've been sitting here teary eyed reading them all and it makes me proud to know that this is why we LOVE Disney and our Disney cruises!

For us, having the typical American 4 schedule household, we just love having the week or two to reconnect and have fun together! Having breakfast and dinner together every night is great. Swimming with sea turtles after walking the plank in St. Thomas-the best! Makes our 3rd cruise in 2008 WAAAAYY to far away! pirate:

Thanks for sharing all of your memories!

We looked up and there was Mickey in the clouds watching us leave the Port.
.
Looks like Pluto is in the clouds with him too.

Im loving all these stories, but I think I have to say the Ariel one is my favorite.

I'm not sure how luv2travel aquired her font, but I downloaded it free (and legally :) ) a few years ago by going to Google and searching for "Disney font". You'll find a few websites through that search that will allow you to download it.

Okay...back to the topic at hand! Keep them coming, please! I've most enjoyed the sister's celebration of life story and the Ariel visit. They are ALL fantastic though...so thank you everyone for sharing your special moments.

Hi everyone....I usually stick to my two "disney family" threads but saw this and branched out. This is for all the folks that go on DCL that don't have kids.

I can't pick ONE fantastic moment---they go from embark to debark for me but I can say that just being able to do crazy things that NO ONE would understand that hasn't been there. A pic is worth a thousand words.....

For my nanaheads.....(go post! Kathy is waiting!)

Hey Mutt, who is the funny looking one in the hat?:lmao:

My hands-down fav moment was the first night of the first cruise I ever took - we had really rough seas but a clear sky so I just wandered around the top deck watching the waves and the stars and feeling the sea spray all the way up there. I had the place to myself and it was utterly peaceful. Everything was covered with a slight frosting of salt causing it to sparkle.

The rest of our cruises have had calmer seas (drat! :)) so haven't been able to relive this memory yet. For which my easily sea-sick mother is endlessly greatful. :)

Just posting because this thread was on page 3! Need more stories!:thumbsup2

DH proposed in Palo on Valentine's day. He bought the ring in St. Maartin, snuck it up to PJ and then had it delivered to our table as an 'extra special' dessert. I was speachless - and the whole restaurant (it seemed) applauded and many wanted to look at the ring. We then went downstairs & had our photo taken with a ships railing & night sky.

OK, that beats my mermaid story any day of the week!!

One of my favorite moments was on our 1st Wonder cruise. Our 6yr yold DS had just received a huge plate of pancakes from our server for breakfast, and he remarked, "Wow, these are awesome! Nothing could beat this except if it a cherry on top!" Well we all laughed at his complimentary comment and continued to eat our great breakfast. We loved watching our son dig into his pancakes, and then to our surprise our server appeared with a special plate in her hand. You guessed it, she had brought him a huge plate of fresh cherries! His eyes almost popped out and he was speechless-we all laughed at his response to this very funny "Disney" moment and it remains one of our favorite memories from our 1st cruise. :lmao: :rotfl:

Only YOU would find me here, Bob!!! Wheres your story, hunh? Some nanahead....

btw...what do you think of the new 07 shirt design....its sort of the same pic.

Haven't seen the shirt design, but I will check it out. I guess I should post a story...

What I think is still my favorite moment is from our very first cruise in 2004 on the Wonder. Since we boarded on our anniversary, I had made Palo reservations for that evening. After dinner, DW and I went up deck 10 and stopped next to the railing and just stood there watching the full moon on the ocean with my arms wrapped around her. I know, it is sappy, but that is still my absolute favorite moment from any of my trips.

A special moment from our first cruise in 2006 actually happened when we were about to leave at the end of the trip. We were walking out after our breakfast on the last day. My ds 10 at the time and my dd 4 were both so upset about leaving. My dd said she wanted to stay for 6100 more minutes and my ds said he was going to hide in the bathroom so he could stay on the ship.
This meant so much to me because it made me realize how special the experience was to my kids and I had never seen them react that way to leaving any other vacation. It is also the reason we're going again in May!:cool1:

It happened time and again, but it happened *first* with Cinderella.

DD was so excited to be meeting Cinderella... and it must've showed, because we were waiting off to one side... there wasn't a 'real line' yet, just a bunch of people mulling about in the Grand Lobby...
And a CM came up to DD and said, I've got someone for you to meet, come with me... and it turned out the CM was one of Cindy's handlers... she brought DD over to the side, and said loudly 'the line for Cinderella starts here' right as the Character walked down the staircase...
DD was automagically first in line!! And it might have had something to do with the fact that she brought her Cinderella rag doll with her to meet "the real thing"

Cinderella immediately bent down and spent time examining the doll and chatting with DD - then tons of pictures - she spent more time with her than she should've, but it made for a magical memory...

that's beautiful. :goodvibes BTW - Cinderella is my fav dp (and yes, I'm over 40). :goodvibes

I will never forget the first Disney Cruise we took, We had cruised another cruise line with my daughter who was 2 at the time and the whole trip was a complete disaster with the kid clubs and things for her to do, so I was hesitant on ever going on another cruise with a child so I called Disney from the parking lot of the terminal of this other cruise and the CM had told me about how great Disney cruises were so we booked a 3 day asap to test the theory.
Well needless to say it was amazing, and when it came time to get off the ship my mil, dh, dd, ds and I were all crying as we walked off the ship. and since that time I am hooked on DCL no other ship could even compare to the magic and special people that are on their ships.
