what was your buyer incentive??

Don't know if this was considered an incentive, or if it was just timing. We closed in May 2000, with an October use year and received two sets of points, current and prior year? Don't remember details, but it afforded us the ability to do the 4/3 cruise/land trip on all points (we borrowed ahead too). It was perfect!

$ 8 off each AKV point initial purchase :)

then when we did an add on we got 1oo developer pts and $8 off each AKV points since we added 110 more points. ;)

We just purchased 175 points at AKL, incentive was $8 off per point plus 100 developer points.

We are newbies! We got $10 / point at SSR and 200 bonus developer points for 2007 since we bought in at 200pts. (they were matching whatever amount you purchased.)

Another bonus...free childcare for the time of presentation!! With two boys under the age of 4, that was a fantabulous bonus! :thumbsup2 It was like a mini-vacation!

Counting the days to our annual September trip! (Though we may have to throw in a "bonus" trip before then)

In 1992 we got those free park passes, which I think lasted all the way through 1999.

Purchased at SSR in Dec. '06 with the Friends & Family promo, so we got $15 off per point (making them $86/ea). Debated about waiting for AKV to go on sale but we knew it would be a lot more per point so we decided to go for our main contract when & where we could afford to buy more points. Now we're watching & waiting for an incentive at AKV that would apply to buying a smaller add-on than 110 points as we don't need another 110 points. I really don't want to pay "full price" but want an add-on of about 55 points...hate that they don't offer incentives for smaller add-ons for current owners... If nothing comes along at AKV maybe we'll have to wait for the grand opening at Ko'Olina on Oahu and will purchase there!:goodvibes

Four puchases:

1. June, 2006: SSR, 150 points: $5 per point off, got '05 and '06 points (or 06 and 07; I get confused...basically, current year as well as upcoming year points), for a price of $91/point...plus a tote bag (in the closing papers box), ice cream of our choice, fast passes, and a $50 Disney gift card at the sales center--plus, we absolutely adore our guide (Tim Grabman), so I consider him an incentive, too!

2. January, 2007: Added on 115 points at SSR thru Friends and Family--$15/point off, for price of $86/point...plus got current year points (10 days left in current year!) w/ability to bank them into next use year (10 days later!), plus yet another tote bag

3. July, 2007: 100 SSR points, $10 off (so, $91/point) plus double developer points, and -- you guessed it --ANOTHER tote bag!

4. July, 2007: 50 BCV points (for "emotional reasions")...no incentive at all ($101/point, as I recall), except the increasing-like-rabbits tote bag!

I now have four tote bags...one contains all my DVC "prior year" paper work; one contains all my current year DVC paper work. Til last night, the other two sat in the plastic bags...but last night, hearing predictions of traffic-crippling snow for today (and having "must do" meetings on my day's agenda), I grabbed those two bags, filled them w/what's needed for myself & my dog, and "evacuated" to a "pied a terre" in town (2 blocks from my meeting sites)...so those tote bags came in handy after all--and they remind me of the sunshine and warmth "at home!"

Happy as can be w/our points, and w/DVC...the only incentive that mattered to me, tho, was the friends & family one last January...I performed "twisted math analysis" and figured $15 off, plus 115 extra points (from getting current year points when there were only 10 days left in the current year) valued at $10/point, got me to some ridiculous price per point like $75 or something (not sure I could duplicate that "math!")...all really just an excuse to talk myself into the purchase, of course!

Since June 2006 we've either taken or scheduled 8 WDW trips (and I still have 300+ points I can borrow from the 09 UY)...so no, DVC didn't save me a penny (want some more "twisted math?" I figured out a way to call our latest trip, this past Jan, "free": DVC points for the villa, frequent flyer miles for the air fare, APs for the park admission, and Christmas gift gift certificates for the dining plan...how "sick" is that in justifying an extra trip to WDW????)

AKV Double Developer Points (DCL crusie), Ice Cream and fast passes in August 07

Denise in MI

We bought in January of 2000 and added on with in the next 6 months. We got to sell back half of our points for the first year for $10 a point for both the original and the add on.

15 dollars per point discount and current points, SSR, 2007: Total 86 per point
Current year points only, BWV (sold out at the time) 2005: Total 87 per point

We did an add-on (160, SSR, OCT UY) at Disneyland on 9/30/07:
  • $10 off each point;
  • 160 Developer Points;
  • 160 '06 points (with new '07 points hitting the very next day);
  • 2 adult AP vouchers (redeemable as either WDW APs or DL Premium APs);
  • The tote bag, etc.
If we had held active APs at time of purchase we would have also received an attractive Mickey litho; if we had the Disney VISA we would have received a $500 credit of some sort.

We had toured Shell Vacation Club earlier that morning (receiving $100 Disney Dollars for our time), walked back to Downtown Disney for some coffee and popped over to the model for a "quick peek." Never thought we'd walk away with the add-on (especially having said, "No" so often throughout the morning) -- but the sales method, timing and incentives hit all the right buttons. ;)

We bought 225 points in November at Disneyland.

160 points: 8 dollars off a point OR 160 developer points

200 points: 8 dollars off a point OR 160 developer points AND 2
free annual passes to WDW or DL

225 points: 8 dollars off a point AND 160 developer points AND 2
free annual passes for WDW or DL with a referral from a present DVC member in good standing.

Since we bought our contract at DL we also received founding members or first rights to purchase at the new GCV being built at DL.

We received a 100 dollar gift card for taking the tour.

A friend is about to buy in. Am I right in understanding that you received matching developer points? Are they charging you dues on those? Are they matching if you buy 160 as well? Or did you just get 2007 UY points with 2008 coming? Questions, Questions, Questions????

Thanks! :flower3:

They do have some nice incentives at DL. Ours was an initial purchase not an add on. Hopefully when the time comes I hope the incentives are just as good as the ones you got!:goodvibes

We bought in 1994 so I don't remember any price cut. It wasn't near as expensive as now. We did get free park passes for 1/2 the number in the room we booked. For instance, GV for 12, we got 6 park passes for the length of stay. Back then, we had daily passes so we got 6x the number of days we stayed. I really don't remember how much we paid per point.

SSR: $10 off in Sept 2003
AKV double developer points Aug 2007

We just bought in at 225 pts with June use year and got the following:

$10 off per pt at SSR
160 developer pts - no dues (you get 100 DP for 160-224 buy in and 160 dp for 225+ buy in not matching one to one)
225 2007 pts - we are not paying the 2007 $4.21 maint dues and banked them immediately.

I was on the fence to buy and called in to get more info and when they told me about the incentives, I thought it seemed more than fair and timing worked out great. We had plans to go in Feb for a quick getaway just the wife and I. So we got to use some of the developer pts right away and with the banking of the 2007 pts we get a long trip later in 2008. With our trip in Feb we immediately saved :cool1: as I was going to have to pay out of pocket for a room. I do have to admit we didn't take the tour or anything, someone I work with has been a member for about 10 years. The good news is I made my decision on my research and a few trusted people's opinion that have been long term happy members. So I didn't make a choice on being there and let all my emotions get involved - probably easiest sale the saleman made in awhile. Just hope I did the right thing!!!!

Good luck and hope this answers your question, sorry to ramble.

Forgot 2 more:

50% off closing costs and a beach bag or something like that.

Purchased 320 points for AKV with cash and got:

$10 discount per point
160 developer points
50% of closing costs paid
$500 shipboard credit
A great Disney Cruise Line Model that says Disney Cruise Line on one side of the stand and Disney Vacation Club on the other.
The bag to hold all of the stuff

October UY with 2007 points and no payment for 2007 dues (prorated to almost zero due to buying at New Years)

The incentives were good enough to get to buy right then and there despite my rule to always wait the number of days in thousands before making a purchase (so I should have waited a month to decide). I almost bought another 120 points while on the ship. Glad I didn't -- will probably add on with a BCV resale.

DVC members that bought more points while on the cruise got another 225 developer points.

Bought 150 SSR at DL in Feb. of 2007 with an August UY.

Got a $15/pt credit for being a DL AP holder ($86/pt).

Closing costs were $125... I think this was half off?

Got 2 passes for WDW AP's OR DL Premium AP's. DL Premium AP option expires June of 08, WDW option does not expire.

Got 150 bankable '06 points with no maint. fees. '07 points arrived in August.

Got the tote bag.

Got a $50 Disney card for the tour. My husband wasn't there, so just $50.

My fuzzy math got me down to about $81/pt. :cool1: I didn't figure in the maint. savings on the '06 points or the $50 Disney Card, though.

Right now I'm impatiently waiting for GCV to go on sale. I have a call in to my guide right now to see if I'll get on that "first-priority" sales list since I bought at DL. :goodvibes

I got 200 incentive points to use which is definitely well worth it since it's just my mom and I are really the obly ones who go!
Regardless LOVE going to Disney anyway!!!!!!! And we each got a $15 gift card for any place in Disney.....more shopping!:woohoo:

I don't remember how much I bought SSR for!! We bought 2 years ago -incentive was 10$ off - plus the previous year's points. I think it was like 82$ a point?????

Our AKV add-on was purchased just before the price increase. We got 8$ off plus developer points. Would have loved the annual passes that were floating around as an add-on incentive pre-AKV.
