What was your biggest food letdown???

I have a list of things that have rave reviews to try on our next trip to Disney. I did this last year on our first trip & most things were excellent! I can only remember 2 letdowns. Please don't throw stones at me when I say this, 1 was the school bread & the other was the dole whip. They just weren't my cup of tea.

So, what was your biggest letdown?

obviously everything is very subjective, I love Zebra domes AND Dole Whips (things that seem to have been mentioned several times ) but I also love sweets.

For me, the whole Tony's Town Square experience was a let down.
Also, the resort Pizza! ugh!

I was disappointed with the school bread, was pretty plain compared to all the other goodies on offer. Also been disappointed with Boma the last few visits - Meats seemed quite poor quality (Especially the chicken, very little meat to be found!) But these are small disappointments in comparision to the hundreds of amazingly tasty things we have found in WDW!

I will preface this by saying I expected Chef Mickey's to be mediocre. It still "wins" as the most disappointing as it wasn't even close to mediocre; it was downright awful. It was still a positive experience as our DD loved the characters and it made her day, but c'mon at least give the adults edible food.

The surf and turf at Narcossees. Not only did we try it once, we tried it twice last year. I really really really wanted a nice lobster with my meal and both times were a huge let down with really chewy lobster tail.

Bluezoo. People raved about it, I checked Yelp and TripAdvisor for reviews that confirmed what people raved about, but man was I disappointed. Well, disappointed in everything but dessert. My lobster could have bounced off the wall it was so overcooked and tough.

It wasn't that it was bad food or necessarily tasteless food, but if I'm spending around $60 on a meal, I guess I just have higher expectations. Had this meal been at a restaurant that wasn't billed as a gourmet seafood place, I likely would have been happy with it. But what a let down.

These threads are such a waste of time, sorry. I have counted atleast 10 things people have listed that I loved...school bread, 'Ohana (especially the bread pudding), funnel cakes, cupcakes from SR, Dole Whips, Akerhus...

What is the point? Just to be able to be negative? This shouldn't influence people in any way, and if it does that's too bad, b/c someone may not try something at WDW just b/c someone on here said they didn't like it. It's all a matter of taste.

I started this thread because I like hearing from others. It's not to bash Disney or the food. I was just curious to see what other people thought. If you think it's a waste of time, why take the time to read it & comment? I agree that people should try things for themselves & form their own opinion.

We thought the meat at Ohana's was extremely overcooked. We liked all the before and after stuff; but didnt like the food on the skewers.

Just went to Rose & Crown in October, have been anticipating the Sunday Roast. It was horrible. Dry, Dry, Dry...... as soon as I took my first bite my DH said, you dont like it do you??? I left all the roast behind.

My biggest letdown... probably Columbia Harbor House. The fish & shrimp were not even at the level of LJS to me... and that's a pretty low level. :goodvibes DH, a seafood hater, actually ate the fish &b liked it! Go figure.

All of our table service meals were at least good or great this last trip. We avoid going to Tony's now though, because we've been burned twice there.

Our biggest dissapointmet was Ohana too. We were really looking forward to eating here because of the reviews, but we didn't like it at all.

Ditto on being disappointed by our first visit to Ohana. We went there to celebrate DH birthday. Food was overcooked and dry. Very slow service - they'd come around to the table with the same thing twice in a row (visits to our table 20 minutes apart) and never bring other items that we wanted to try until the end.

We were so hungry after a day at BB that my family filled up on things they didn't care for, so by the time more food came, they were full. I had been telling them how good the bread pudding was and wanted them to try it but each only took one bite. The wait was just too long. I ate some and it was very good.

On our last trip, it seemed that the quality of all of the food was not as good as before. It's not stopping us from going back, but we'll try some different restaurants.

Ohana.

Although we've had good meals at Tony's, which other's haven't.

I think if anything, it's first a matter of personal taste and preference, but also a matter of percentages. If you have a place that always gets good reviews, you have a good chance of a good meal. If you have a place that's 50/50, well, then, you're playing the odds that your experience might be good, or it might be bad. You always see Tony's and Ohana on threads like this. so, you're playing the odds when you go to those two.

Boma dinner and Le Cellier dinner.

They were just not that good. I was very disappointed in both.

Cobb salad at the brown derby. I was really looking forward to the original Cobb. It just didn't work for me. But I did like my wife's shrimp entree, and the grapefruit cake.

What was different about it? I haven't tried the one at BD, but have heard it's spot on to the original..

Our letdowns - The Wave. Always read fantastic reviews on it. And it sucked for us. Took a bite of my dish, passed it to dh to ask him what he thought it tasted like and we both said "Chef Boyardee". It was really bad.

Biergarten one time but they redeemed themselves this past vacation.

Love Boma, love zebra domes, love school bread, don't care much for dole whips (taste like plastic to me) and I was so looking forward to a jalapeno pretzel and it made me sad. Very bland - no kick to it at all.

Have eaten at Ohana numerous times and never have been let down. Service has been great, food spectacular, and last time we had an amazing view!!

emmabemmainc, don't be a "kill joy". This is all in fun - the OP knows we are all different and have our own likes and dislikes. Why don't you just relax and have a cup of coffee or tea ;). By the way, the most disappointing for me is most all the cupcakes at WDW. They're mostly all icing and little cake, and I prefer just a tad of icing. They're very pretty though:).

chef Mickeys. I had low expectations from reading these boards and we are not fussy but it really was that bad. We won't be going there again. Expensive too. Way, way overpriced.

It's a discussion board. No need to get nasty because some people dislike the things you like.

CReam cheese pretzel. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't "all that".

Yep. I was soooooo looking forward to this on our last trip and was greatly disappointed. It was not tasty at all.

The other thing was the grapefruit cake at Brown Derby. It just didn't live up to what I thought it would be given all the hype.

It wasn't any one restaurant for me. I just wish the shrimp at Ohana was peeled. I spent my dinner peeling shrimp for the kids instead of enjoying the meal myself.
If that's the worst thing I experience, I'll take it.
