What was too intense for your little (infant) one?

I've heard so many great things about how easy babies are at WDW. And that they can do most anything except the rides with height restrictions. I'm wondering if there was anything that your littlest mouseketeer found "TOO INTENSE." DD will be 10 mos old, not walking, but very friendly and outgoing.
How about fireworks, Fantasmic, 3D movies, anything WAY too loud or scary? Give me the scoop!
Thanks.

DS was 2.5 but he really didn't like Snow White- too dark!
Ditto for Pirates of the Carribean and anything with fireworks.

My baby cousin who is 3.5 got so scared at ITTBAB. In fact all the kids in the theatre were petrified. I felt so bad. She got scared when the grasshopper came out of the wall. Its definetly a very intense show.

My DD does not like ITTBAB, either. We did it once when she was 4...she'll soon be 9 and she still won't do it.

Hello,
I took my DS at 7 weeks, 5 months, 7 months and 10 months to WDW. He did fine on all the rides even the 3D movies. Loved to look around and check everything out. He even watched the fireworks and didn't cry. That really surprised me. We are going back in March and he will be 15 months so I am really curious to see how he reacts on this trip. It was so easy to bring a baby. When he was 10 months I took him all by myself and we had a wonderful time. Just take your time and go slow. You will have a great trip.

Here I go again recommending foam earplugs. . . Surely I'm going to get tagged by the Tag Fairy as "The Earplug Lady". :rotfl2:

That said. . . I love foam earplugs! For whatever reason, the rides and attractions at the Disney theme parks are extremely LOUD. You can purchase a pack of foam earplugs at your local Mart in the Health & Beauty Aids section. Or if you know someone who works in a manufacturing plant, they can probably get some there. You'll be better off with the ones shaped like bullets than marshmallows, though, since you're working with an infant with tiny ears. Basically, you roll them between your fingers to make them long and skinny, compressing the foam. Gently pull on the ear to make the ear canal a little straighter, insert a tiny bit of the earplug and hold it there while it decompresses and VOILA!

You aren't sticking something way down in the ear canal, so there isn't any danger of damaging her ear innards. Plus it's squishy foam, so it conforms to wherever it's put.

DS5 is a kid who doesn't like darkness or loud noises (nothing developmental, he just likes quiet, bright places). He spends about 60% of his time in the Disney parks with his earplugs in! That removes the aural sensory overload so all he has to manage is the visuals.

So there it is, yet another "plug" ( :lmao: ) for earplugs! BTW, DH laughed at me when I bought a case of 100 earplugs on strings! But it was $15 for a dozen and $19 for 100! :confused3

Happy planning!

My infant and I think most don't really get "scared" like a 2-3 year old might be on Snow White or POC, for instance. But he was bothered by some shows that were really loud. Namely, Ellen's Energy thing at Epcot, plus it's a very looooong show with no way to get out so I would skip it. But he did great on all of the "dark" rides and was really easy. He'll be walking the next time we go so I'm not anticipating it to be as easy ;)

This is what I've heard. That after 1 year they learn to be scared, and babies don't have that reaction for some reason. Maybe others will tell us the same was true for their kids. I hope so.
BTW, does AU stand for Auburn University? ROLL TIDE! :rotfl:
Dale-n-Chip - I've used those earplugs at work. I bet they could save the day in many cases.
Any more?

I'm still nervous to take my oldest kid. I've committed to having her come along with us in December when she'll be a few months shy of three years old.

Yes, it stands for Auburn, but I wll ignore your little comment ;)

Trypnotic,
My daughter was about that age the first time we took her. Priceless, let me tell you. The "Magic" in Magic Kingdom takes on a whole new meaning when you take your little ones. It was awesome!

We have took my DS each year starting with his 1st birthday. At 12 months old he wasn't afraid of anything and typically fell asleep on the darker rides like Haunted Mansion and Pirates. The being scared was the next year when Snow White freaked him out. After that we skipped the other dark rides until year 3 when he was doing much better and just this past year at age 4 was when he asked to ride Haunted Mansion again. He said it was okay but that he didn't want to ride again.

During ITTBAB, I routinely hear children screaming and see parents holding little ones darting to the exits. It is always during the part where (spoiler!) the theater goes dark, fills with smoke and the giant spiders fall down and bounce. It is so noisy.

ITTBAB is fantastic, but I wouldn't take a little one to see it.

It is hard to predict what will scare a a little one (my son was afraid of grass until he was three!), but ITTBAB has a high fear factor.
:goodvibes

I agree, ITTBAB is scary. Even if your little one is too little to understand, I would think the screams from other children and the darkness might make her uneasy!

Actually ITTBAB abd HISTHA were at the top of my skip list, along with Stitch's Great Escape, not because of the content (she has no frame of reference for them) but because of the dark and loud noises.
Thanks.
