This is making me crazy! I just sat through Wuthering Heights thinking it was the movie I'm trying to find, but no dice!!

I think the movie stars Laurence Olivier. He is an architect, designing a stable or a barn perhaps. He is in love with a woman that he can't have and and at the end he is laying on a slab, maybe with a broken back, and when he dies she comes back to get him. I think her ghost comes back to get him. How vague is that!!??

Someone help before I lose my mind!!

Nope, sorry. But I sympathize. There are a couple of movie plots that I vaguely remember from my childhood (a LONG time ago ) that I google every so often, hoping I can come up with a title. Nada. Very frustrating, isn't it?

Your description sounds a little like Wuthering Heights meets Jane Eyre. Orson Welles was the star of Jane Eyre, I think. He's in love with a woman he can't have, but he's not dead at the end...though almost. He's blind and burned from a fire and she comes back to him at the end.

Is the movie Black & White or Color?

Did you see it in the theatre, first-run or on TV?

Do you have ANY idea *when* you saw it?

One possibility is that I think you could possibly have the wrong star in it. To a little kid, Olivier or Redgrave (for instance) might look the same and with time the two stars could be misremembered.

Do you remember anything else about it, any places or any other actors?
