What was the vaccine we had as kids that left a scar?

Ah - zombie threads around Halloween. Just perfect.

I've got two scars. One is barely visible while the other is pretty deep and clearly visible. My mom told me the vaccination wasn't really using a hypodermic needle, but some sort of twin-pronged awl used to scratch the skin, after which the vaccine was placed on the scratch.

I remember one U2 single cover photo that showed their drummer wearing a sleeveless T-shirt. There's a clear depression visible where the smallpox vaccination scar is.

I'm 51. Didn't get this as a child, but I had it shot into me with an air gun when I was 19 and in the army. No scar, though almost everyone else in my unit did scar up. Not sure if this means something went wrong with my shot, or I was already immune.

Hmmm...I forgot about that vaccine. I had it in my upper thigh area. It used to white, I think it is gone.

i didn't scar with my latest smallpox vaccine, and my dad (a dr) said it was because I was already immune.

Smallpox.

When I was a baby, the doctor gave the smallpox vaccine in the upper thigh (so there would be no unsightly scar on the arm). Problem was it was under the edge of my diaper, and got badly infected. I now have this weirdly shaped scar on my thigh, that doesn't look like a smallpox scar, but it is.

They still give it to everyone here in Honduras. Everyone seems to have the scar.

Hey a Zombie Threat about a Zombie vaccination. They stopped giving small pox vaccines in the U.S. in 1972.

The scar is because the secret government in control of helping the alien colonists needed all of our DNA. Or used it to inject us with virus, depending on what version of X-Files continuity you ascribe to.
