Does anyone know what the price per point was 5/2001?

I have our deed and other paperwork but can't find financing papers. The title ins is for $15,120 which is $72, I thought we paid less than that though. I will call MS tomorrow and see what balance is. Thinking of selling and just curious.

Current price is $89? and resales are going for about (avg)$72 that doesn't seem right to me. After 3 years no increase in value?

I don't really want to sell just exploring options.

Greatest decision we ever made. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Thanks Nick!
So $72 is what we paid. we own at VWL, but we usually stay at OKW

Looking at the resales though, it just doesn't make sense to me.

So if almost 3 years later, Disney is selling for 89 soon to be $95 (how well that will sell is another question) and resales are asking 62 to 74 on The Timeshare Store (the only place I looked at)

So to look at DVC as an investment is not so.

Whether I bought 3 years ago or not I could still get points for the same price?
I would have thought resale would be a little lower than Disney but not this much.

Other thoughts? Other than I wish we bought sooner

Your still at an even point with DVC. Other timeshares are worth little three years later. DVC is one of the only timeshares out there that hold value. We purchased earlier and can sell at a profit but love it too much to do that!

And that's why you'll find that statement in bold type throughout your POS. ;)

We have been very lucky in the timeshare world on how well our purchase has retained value in the resale market. Just like someone who buys a house and then sells it a year or two later doesn't generally come out ahead, someone selling DVC in a short time is lucky to come out even. However, someone who bought for $51 back in the early 90's would be smiling to sell their DVC at $72 after 10+ years of vacations (9 years with passes included).

With 9 years of passes it would be a no brainer for me! Then I would need more points!

I guess your right PamOKW, it's like buying a car and trading in after 2 years (been there done that) you are upside down.

I don't have experience with any other timeshares so I am oblivious. It does make sense though now.

Guess we'll have to hang on to the DVC for a few more years and suffer with our Disney vacations. oh woe is me

If any stray points are available for resorts other than SSR, DVC is charging $84 per point. I would use that as a comparison for VWL, not $95 since SSR has a longer term.

SSR contracts are of course for 50 years.

Although I frequently call my DVC ownership an investment, it truly is not. I think the fact that it holds its value as compared to some other companies that dramatically fall in value is pretty remarkable. :yo-yo:

I think DVC has held it's value VERY well. That said I went into it with money I could afford to lose. It is not considered part of any "monetary" investment plan. I do consider it an investment in "Me", but you can't quantify that.
