What was the most disappointing attraction closing?

RIVER COUNTRY!

We were staying in the cabins of FW during Christmas of 1997, I think. The water parks were generally closed, but the temps got up into the mid-80's and stayed there the whole week, so they opened River Country for us, and didn't advertise it to the other resorts...what a blast! I miss it terribly, because I'm not a big water-park person (not brave enough for the big slides and wave pools), and River Country was like a really cool theme pool.

Mr. Toads Wild ride  I was so mad when I heard they closed it!! Pooh is an ok ride but nothing was going to ever replace the "Toad" :worship:

Wow - this thread is bringing back so many memories!

I would also have to say 20,000 Leagues and Horizons. Great, classic rides...

Mine was definately Mr. Toads Wild Ride. Pooh is a fabulous replacement, but man-oh-man did I love that ride!

Also, what was the most disappointing rehab closing? Mine was actually this last January...."It's a Small World". That is always our first ride tradition, so it was pretty sad to see it down. My mother swears that "Pirates of the Carribbean" was closed when I was young, but I don't remember that.

But let me just say if "Haunted Mansion" was ever closed for rehab.....you wouldn't see me there that week. :)
I agree with you 100%.. I miss Mr. Toads Wild Ride SOO much. It was one of my favorite rides at WDW.. Sure, it broke down every 5 minutes but in a way that was magical. Being in that room with the train hitting you then just stopped (I'm being totally serious, it was awesome). It was an experience. I loved that ride, I think they should bring it back. It is at DL but its just not the same (even though it technically is).

What was the ride If you had wings about. I have been to disney many times since 1979 and I don't remember that one.

I was also hoping to locate the link that posted all of the closed attractions at Disney. Someone posted it on a thread similar to this one and it went through all of the changes WDW has encountered throughout the years.

I remember Mr. Toads............ it scared me to death.......... but I loved it!!!!! I always wanted to ride it, but was a nervous wreck until it was over!!!! We would wait in line, and I wouldn't speak........ I was afraid that if I talked, everyone would know I was scared and I didn't want to look like a chicken!!! I just stood in line, almost frozen with fright......... LOL, it scared me more than the haunted mansion............ :scared:

That is the one I miss the most!!

Last year, (Jan.) It's a small world was closed for rehab......... so ds didn't get to do it......... hopefully it'll be up and running this year. It's a must do every trip!!!

If I remember right, the If you had wings ride was like you were flying like bird or something............ I barely remember it. Wasn't it like a "commercial" for pan am or some airline??? I didn't really care for it, but it was a good excuse to get out of the heat............ LOL

Another one I'm glad is gone is the carousel of progress............ I always laughed at that one............ :confused3 it didn't make sense to me when I was a kid!! It seemed like a "GE" commercial............ LOL

Mr Toads
Horizon
The original Figment ride

I agree. I used to love the original Figment ride, it was my favorite one in fact. The new one is jsut stupid. And i definatly miss Mr. Toads. I think the new Winnie the Pooh ride is very very broing, and dull. :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

1. Mr Toad

2. Horizons

3. The original figment and the Imagination playground that was there. That playgroud was awesome.

I think it was Delta Dreamflight, and as you went through you were flying with the birds and over different terrains.

COP is still in WDW, but was taken out of DL. Anyways, ARE YOU CRAZY!?!?
COP is my all time fav. ride at WDW, it jsut really givesyou that Disney magic feeling to me. But I dont understand why you don't like it??

There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day. There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, and tomorrow is jsut a dream away. Man has a dream and thats the start, he follows his dream with mind of heart. And when it becomes a reality its a dream come true for you and me. So there's a great big beautiful tomorrow, just a dream away!! (song from COP) :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I remember a different song (or perhaps a different verse). "Now is the time. Now is the best time. Now is the best time of our lives. . . " Has the song changed? I haven't been in COP in many years. . . but we leave for WDW tomorrow!! :cool1:

I miss them all!!! I can remember thinking I was such a "big kid" because I would ride Mr. Toad's and it was so dark...the giant octopus thingy in 20,000 Leagues, and the smell of oranges in Horizons.

My all-time favorite ride has always been Imagination. I love Figment! I haven't been back to WDW since they changed the ride, however...I hope I'm not disappointed. :guilty:

Wait!! Wait!! WAIT!! HOLD THE PRESSES!!!

When did Skyway close???!!!???

Has it been that long since my last trip to the World. It was only 2 years ago?

Though it was six years since I have ridden it.

When did Skyway go away?

They closed it after a CM fell from one of the cars if memory serves. It's probably been 8 or 9 years ago. I remember in 93 someone spat on me from the skyway - and it was gross. DH ran to the exit of the ride and told a cm, waited so that he could ID the spitter. Spitter was escorted from the MK.

I miss Captain Eo and the original Figment.
On that note, does anyone know why they decided to get rid of the original Figment and then later replace it with this new version.
What were they thinking?

I really miss River Country, lot of fun times, also is the Penny Arcade still on main street?? I don't remeber seeing it last time I was there

The Skyway to Tomorrowland/Fantasyland was closed in 2000. There was a lot of rumor and speculation about why it was closed. There is a thread here somewhere about that situation. A worker was killed on the ride, but that supposedly was not the reason. I've tried to search for that thread, but no luck so far.

OK, found some more info. It was closed in November of 1999. One of the reasons that was tossed around was that since it had to be closed during thunderstorms and windy days, both of which are frequent down in here in Florida during the summer, that it was deemed to much trouble to keep running. It was sooooo slow loading as well.
