Heading to Universal...soon! Also planning to go to Disney this Easter week. How long of a wait do I expect to be in line for the rides?

Just curious...What was the longest time you have to wait in line? What time of the year was it? Which park...which ride? If it's over an hour...do you still stand in line or go to a different ride where the line is shorter?

Thanks for sharing your inputs.

We go to the World in the off season, so have never had to wait very long for anything. When we went to Disneyland a few years ago, we waited 1 hour and 20 minues for Rocket Rods and it was worth it.

I don't think I have waited more than an hour and a half for a ride at WDW. And that was way before fast pass many years ago. I think the longest wait I have waited in was usually for Space MT or Splash MT. The Indy Racetrack always has a HUGE line, but we never ride it anyways. I lived in FL and had APs for years so I do not feel compelled to wait in any line if it is too long (in my opinion more than 30-45 min, and I usually won't even wait that long). I always feel I can come back to it later.

The longest I have ever waited for any ride any where was about 2 hours and 45 to ride the Millenium Force the year it opened at Cedar Point!!

If my memory serves me correctly the longest I had to wait was about 40minutes for Test Track in the normal stand-by line. This was last year at end of june/beginning of July. However, we had a lot of rain then so I remember several times them apologizing for the long wait as they were seeing how close storms were to the Orlando area etc so maybe that slowed things down  Also in MK I sometimes saw BTMRR and Splash Mountain to be queue's of about an hour long...but if you get there rather early you can probably try ride each a couple of times without much of a wait.

Other than that we seemed to get on everything rather quickly, we stayed off-site. So just planned to arrive before park opening or JUST after and managed the more "thrill" rides within a short time. After that we used fastpass I think and it worked great for us!
Just a tip tho...if you are thinking of doing Test Track and don't mind the possibility of not being with your party - I'd advise the single riders line. I did this a lot and some of the time seemed to move quicker than the fastpass line LOL. Plus I remember a few instances where my mum and dad rode the same car, just different lines. Can't remember if any other disney attractions had this option...(universal did)

Sorry for the long reply, typical me getting carried away with my Disney memories  (not that its a bad thing)

TT is only ride with singles line at this time that I know of

thanks
Jason

I have one rule.... if the wait's more than 45 minutes, I don't do it. Although I must say that Fast Pass and going off season has helped me tremendously. I have seen waits of up to 2 hours but personally have never waited that long.

First trip to MGM in March, 2001. RnR 60 minutes. UGH! But, it was worth it in the end. Mickey

we went to IOA in July of 2001. We stayed offsite so we couldnt take advantage of FOTL priviliges. We waited for over 2 hours for Spiderman and MIB, UGH . But we are mainly WDW people and I knew we probably wouldn't be back for a while so we waited. We couldn't get express passes for these rides, because they were already gone. That is one thing I didn't like about IOA was that all their express passes were gone 1st thing in the am. We did enjoy the rides, and having experienced them was great. But if we ever go back again, we will definetly be staying on site so we can do FOTL.!!

The FOTL access you get by staying on site at Universal is PRICELESS. It's the best perk offered anywhere!

I almost cried when i went and they were gone.... its such a waste of good space and track!!

What ever happened to that anyway

I think I waited an hour for Splash Mountain one time. About 45 minutes for TT when it first opened. Those were before Fastpass. My rule is that if standby is over 20-25 minutes, I fast pass. We go in May and December and fastpass is rarely over an hour away.

I've seen TT at 120 min, even in the off-season. Didn't wait, of course. Other than that, nothing much more than an hour.

I suppose that will all change when we go next week. Never been at a peak time before. General rule is we won't wait more than 30 minutes, but I'm sure we'll have to change that.

January really has spoiled us. We don't wait past 10 minutes. I suppose I might 20 minutes for Splash or Kali.
The wait I regret, and not realizing it would be so long of a wait, was that STUPID *ride* at the end of TT! :p
We must have waited a half hour. And the waiting in line was more entertaining than the ride itself! ;)
I think I have waited maybe 20 minutes for Buzz once or twice, because it broke down while I was in the que area.
I think the first time on the Great Movie Ride we had to wait almost a half hour. Which I wouldn't do again.

Longest I've waited is prolly about a half hour. But I'm picky. I will RARELY wait for anything that is posted as longer than 30 minutes. (Often, 30 mins is closer to 20, anyway.) If I want to ride something THAT bad, I'll find a way to do it first thing in the morning, when the waits are shortest.

But Fast Pass has made long waits more or less obsolete, I think -- though I suspect the lines can be brutal during peak season: summer and Christmastime.

I'll find out in July!

Waited little over an hour last week for Splash Mountain stand-by. Fast-pass had long lead time for return time. Park was crowded, so we left.

I was just in WDW for the past 2 weeks and the longest I had to wait for any ride was no more then 30 minutes!!!!

I was able to ride thunderrailroad while waiting for my fp time on splash mountain! I did the same for TOT and RNRC!! did the singles line on test track! Kaliu river rapids I did first thing in the morning!! only because it was warm !! actually rode it 2 times in a row and never got soaked!!
