What was the First Table Service Restaurant...

On my and DH's first trip together we ate at Liberty Tree Tavern for my birthday dinner. At that time it was still a character breakfast and we loved it.

I vaguely remember eating at 50's Prime Time back in 2002 as a teenager. My kids now would be to young to fully appreciate the atmosphere of the restaurant, but I'd like to try it again when they are older.

My next trip after that was last year (May 2013). They only TS we ate was Cape May Cafe for my DWs birthday dinner. We really enjoyed it! We don't have many all you can eat buffets where we live, so it was a treat! We would definitely try it again, but it won't become a tradition. We are planning a January 2015 trip and are going to try a bunch of other places instead! Maybe one of them will become a tradition!

My very first was the Harvest Feast at Garden Grill. It's still my favorite and I eat there every time (and drag who ever is with me!) I love Chip 'n Dale  but the food was also good. That first time it was myself, DM, my 2 DNephews (4 and 9 at the time), and my DBoyfriend (at the time haha!) and we all enjoyed different parts of the meal. I couldn't get enough of the turkey and macaroni and cheese! It's on my list of ADRs to make for each WDW trip.

My first trip to WDW was when I was 18. I know we did some table service but I have no idea which ones!! Maybe Crystal Palace and Rainforest Cafe. RC is no longer a fave by any stretch of the word. Crystal Palace is def a tradition. We go to breakfast on every WDW trip!

Our first meal ever at WDW was at Captain Cook's in the Polynesian the first night of our honeymoon. We got the pulled pork sandwiches and watched Wishes out on the beach of the Polynesian.

Our first table service was Teppan Edo and we loved it!

Our first was Sci Fi with two other couples back in 2000. Don't remember much about the food, but I do remember those clips that played over and over on the screen! Heading back in 2 weeks to take the kids.

CRT, breakfast. I would go back. The stuffed French toast was delicious, the service was great, and of course the princesses were wonderful.

Edited to add that we've been back, for dinner. I try not to do the same thing over and over.

that you ate at on your first trip to WDW?

Crystal palace

Did you love it/hate it?

loved it, but I was 3 so I don't remember.

Did it become a family tradition?

We go ever often, and it always makes me smile

Now my first dinning memory is of CRT at around 5-6 yr old, it was so amazing. but then it was named King Stefan's Banquet Hall. I was 5ish and eating in castle so who cares. Now crt is hard for me resist we go almost every time we go to Disney.

The Pueblo Room in the Contemporary. Loved it. It's been long gone.

I was thinking the same place!!!!
We used to also go to a dinner show restaurant that is now the California grill, can't recall what it was called.

Sci-Fi in 1998, which I've only been to once since. The atmosphere is fun, but it's too dark and cold in there for me, and the food is nothing special, really good onion rings though.

My very first meal was in the restaurant that was located where Tony's is now. Its so long ago (1975) that I don't remember the name. But the Monte Cristo sandwich was memorable

When I was a child we only did day trips to the Magic Kingdom while visiting family in FL. I do remember eating in the Crystal Palace when it was a buffeteria.

My first trip as an adult, when my youngest daughter was 1, we ate in the castle. It was King Stefan's Royal Banquet Hall then, not CRT. There were no characters and we WALKED up on a Saturday evening and were seated within 10 minutes. We had a great table overlooking Fantasyland, the atmosphere was magical and the food was delicious. The butter was a little Mickey statue.

Of course, having our own little princesses, we have been back to CRT. I have never enjoyed it as much as the first time we were there.

I always forget the mickey butter. :confused3 why Disney did you take these silly little things away, that made people go wow ???????

Fun idea for a thread!

La Cellier lunch, back when it was still 1 table-service credit on the meal plan. We had great service, enjoyed our steaks and our desserts. I have an adorable picture of my then-11 year old son & his chocolate mousse/moose dessert.

It's not on our must-do list, but we would go back.

As a child in the 70's we went to Liberty Tree Tavern. I remember my dad making the reservation at the door earlier in the day, and I remember the bread with honey butter. I am pretty sure that is the only sit down Disney restaurant we went to during those childhood trips. Off property I remember going to a buffet called the Swiss House, or Swiss Chalet, something like that. My dad loved that place.

Yes!!!!! That's it...
I think we saw Patti Page there eeeeeek! Dating myself.:rotfl2:

WE saw Billy Eckstine there!!

And I think Mel Torme and Rosemary Clooney were there at some point.

Places like that don't even exist any longer--and more's the pity.

I do recall Rosemary Clooney performing there, great times...
Sigh......

Our first TS was lunch at CRT. Yes, we enjoyed it, and yes, it has become a tradition. It's our first Disney meal every trip!

My first Disney TS was 50's Prime Time last year and it set a bar for good food and entertaining servers.
