What Was The FIRST On-Site Resort You Stayed At?

When I was 15, I stayed at the Contemporary with my parents (1980).
I remember passing the Poly on the monorail wishing I was staying there instead. I thought it looked so cool!

So...my first trip with my own kids, many years later, was at the Poly (2000).

My first on-site was POR (when it was DxL). I stayed offsite once as a toddler, but my first 'real' trip to WDW was at POR when I graduated high school.

Wilderness Lodge in 2003. Up until then it had always been in condos off-site.

PORS, back when it was called Dixie Landings. The plan was for a cabine at Fort Wilderness, but Hurricane Floyd changed that.

All Star Sports the year it opened. They were still doing construction as a matter of fact.

Okay this will date me but the Golf Resort. It was for only 1 night, then after that it was the Polynesian.

Our first trip was at the Poly, garden view concierge, June 20-27, 2000. I thought we might never be back so we did it up right! Little did I know! While we had our DVC points we stayed at BWV and VWL, and had a cash stay at the Dolphin with the teacher discount. Our last trip we used our DVC points for 3 nights in the Contemporary tower. I have never been unhappy with an onsite hotel! Each one has wonderful memories for us. I loved the pool at the Poly, and the atmosphere at the Contemporary and VWL, and the easy walk to the parks from BWV.
Now we don't have DVC points, but I am waffling between Beach and Yacht clubs for our 20th anniversary trip next summer(with a family of 5 I'm limited to a deluxe, poor me ). Once I figure out if there is a difference between the two, maybe I"ll book it.
