My Mom kept a list. I think I have it somewhere. But the first book was "A Duck is a Duck." Recommended by the librarian, I think, because I decided I wanted to know how to read when I was 4 and my parents didn't know what to do. Later, it was used in school.

Real book? No clue. Best guess, Hardy Boys because I was addicted to them in elementary school.

I remember the Dick and Jane books with their dog Spot in first grade.
I also loved the book "Put Me In The Zoo" when I was little.

The one I remember was Harry the Dirty Dog.

I do remember bringing the Little Golden Book of Disney's Pinocchio in for kindergarten show-and-tell, because I thought the Blue Fairy was so pretty.

The And The . Mom read the book to me a lot and at first she thought I had just memorized it. So she handed me another book and I read it too. I have been an avid reader ever since.

Couldn't tell you, I was reading at 3, but Are You My Mother was one of the first books my kids "read"! We read it so much that they had it memorized and could recite it as they turned the pages. That, and My Car.
