What was the first book/magazine you loved?

Probably Highlights magazine. For books, I loved the Little House on the Prairie books, Carrie Woodlawn, Little Women, Five Little Peppers, books on Clara Barton, Florence Nightingale and Helen Keller. I also loved Island of the Blue Dolphins, as mentioned by @slo. My mom bought me Island of the Blue Dolphins at the book fair and gave it to me for Christmas. The cover didn’t look like something I’d like so procrastinated reading it. Once I started to read it, I fell in love with it and treasured it. DS28 had to read it for school and he hated it. I kept telling him how much I loved it and he thought I was crazy. LOL

I had story books as a kid that I liked but the one that really got me into reading was The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles by Julie Edwards aka Andrews.
Then the one that really hooked me was Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott.
I didn't really read until very early teens. I've been an avid reader ever since. Love to read.

edit to add: Magazines, Tiger Beat, Teen Beat etc.
