What was The Adventurers Club?

I went to WDW solo before taking my job. I went there 3 or 4 nights during my trip. The set up made it easy to chat with others and be entertained even on my own. I have no idea why it was closed. They could have kept it open, separate from Pleasure Island, kept a hefty cover charge and I would have gladly paid it.

I 'found' AC later in life...sad to say. I was there for the next to last night though....couldn't get near the place on it's final night..but I stood outside and remembered the good times. Sure do wish Disney would bring it back...someplace onsite, if not at PI.
Kungaloosh!!

It was a place you would walk into, just to look around.... Then you would stay until closing time and then go back every night for the rest of your vacation! Lots of fun, very talented cast members. My dream plan- Close Disney Quest, move ESPN CLUB there. Open AC and CW on the Boardwalk where it would "fit in".........

It was subtle in its ability to suck you into the back story, then you'd get addicted to the shows, and follow them from room to room.

The CMs working there were very good at their jobs. It was one place I didn't mind spending on the drinks, because of the obvious expense it took to keep it open.

WDW should have taken that concept one step further -- a prix fixe dinner show with two settings per night. They still could -- imagine a chain of Disney's Adventurer's Club Restaurants around the country...

It was the only thing Disney in Pleasure Island, and pretty much the only real Disney thing in all of DTD.

Well except for Disney Quest.

I really can't believe this didn't make money for WDW...

Even brought the Pre-Teens when they were old enough

You partly answered your own questions. Most adults don't want to hang out at a bar w/ pre teens. Also, the Adventurer's Club has a niche clientele. We went a few times and one of the biggest things we noticed was a lack of alcohol being purchased by the people hanging around watching the shows.

In my opinion, when PI was opened up to all instead of just adults as it once was, it sealed it's fate. In it's hey day PI had the West End stage, fireworks and an adults only aspect that appealed to many visitors. After the changes all of the clubs suffered.

::sigh::

The AC was a place that dh and I will always remember from past trips. The actors remembered little things about you no matter which character they were playing. They made a great kungaloosh and we have the coconut monkey heads to prove it. It was a place you could hang out to watch a sinking ship over a bar and hold a conversation with a yakoose.

We miss you AC...:littleangel:

Best place ever.... my husband and I would literally stay there for hours at a time. It was always a must do for us. We didnt do much at pleasure island, except the jazz club and AC. We wish disney would bring it back too

Loved the AC and seriously miss it!

I agree that it would have done very well as a dinner theatre with two seatings per night. I don't drink alcohol and don't like drinks with a bunch of stuff mixed together ("specialty" drinks), but I did my share of purchasing bottled water at the AC! *LOL*

Kungaloosh!
