What was Disney thinking??!?!?!?

No, but you will tell Disney what you think they should play.

Personally I do not care what songs Disney plays. It will not make or break my vacation nor cause me to question it in any way.

I also , for the record , support Robin ( and Marshall Mathers , Chick Fil-a, gay rights, Mel Gibson etc). Freedom of Speech for everyone . I may not like what is said but I believe a person has the right to sing it .... And Disney to play it if they desire.

I am just waiting for the Walt would turn over in his Grave comments! But that is okay.. Those posters have the right to say that ( even if I think it is stupid! )

So you would be totally cool for someone to run around MK shouting the F word simply because you feel they have a right to freedom of expression?

Yup! And when I tell them to Shut the insert censored word up I am in the right too . If someone feels the need to express themselves that way I have the right to express my displeasure .... But in no way do I have the right to force them to stop saying it.

The rights of a small child to remain innocent and not be subjected to vulgarity trump your rights of free speech.

The rights of a child trump the rights of an adult always.

Um no... a child's rights are no better or less than anyone else's.. a child's love however trumps all. But that does not include impeding on someone's rights.. adult up and protect your child and quit trying to pass that on to others. Its not my responsibility to raise your child. It's neither Disney's.. so dont try to tell us what we should play or listen too in a theme park..

Agree 100%. If they are offended by what music Disney is playing, they can go to Universal or Sea World if they want. Or, they can stay at home where you can monitor what your kids does/hear/eats etc.

Who exactly is explaining the meaning behind these lyrics to the small child?

Would not THAT person be the one responsible for subjecting the child to vulgarity and destroying their innocence?

To a small child "grab me" means literally to grab a person and nothing else. To a small child "nasty" only means nasty and nothing else.

And if a small child hears an actual person being vulgar (such as the hypothetical guest shouting the f word in the park), then it's the parent's job to tell the child that such language isn't acceptable in their family.

AND if a guest is being disruptive and vulgar, then it's Disney's right to eject them from their own private property. Just as it's Disney's right to decide what music they will play on their own private property. Neither children nor adults have a "right" to dictate to Disney what the company will choose to play in their own parks.

Oh ok so we should make child porn legal. After all, it's that person's right to view what makes them happy and they're not really hurting that child. Just looking.

Sorry, but no. A child's rights take priority. The child does not have the ability to remove themselves from inappropriate situations and obviously from the posts here, not all parents care enough to protect them. NO child should ever be subjected to ANY vulgarity anywhere regardless of what their caregivers think.

Excuse me??? You parent your children the way you see fit, and I will do the same with mine. That comment is beyond rude and judgemental and completely out of line.

Child porn is illegal because a crime is being committed in the production of it. Anyone who purchases or views it is complicit in that crime. Plain old consensual adult porn on the other hand, is completely legal. Adults have every right to view it, if they want. Just as adults can drink and have sex and drive and do many, many other things that would be very bad for children.

You cannot arrange the world to suit your personal idea of what's appropriate for preschool-aged children!

As for your "not all parents care enough to protect them" comment... meh. I've successfully raised two really awesome teenagers. I couldn't be happier with them. Just this past week I had the pleasure of watching my 15yo bonding with his grandfather over his collection of classic rock LPs. I have no regrets!

If there are any newcomers to this thread who want to know what all the fuss is about, well this post sums it up.

Exactly. The OP thought of the words in a "dirty" way. Doesn't mean everyone else does, especially little kids. In fact, if a small child thought of those words as the same way as the OP, I would be worried more about what was going on in their every day life then I would be worried about the song being played by Disney.

Maybe the question should be "OP--what are you thinking?"
