I noticed in the other thread that many people seemed to dislike this ride. I never saw it. What was it like and why don't people like it?

Thanks.

I found it to be a very disappointing attraction. Lights would go out and the Alien would escape from a cage. Went on the ride once and never went back. Glad to see it leave.

it was a movie ride based on the movie "Alien", like they have at MGM or US. I only went on it once and I enjoyed it. A scientist found a way to transport things from outer space and he accidently transports the alieln in, it gets loose and sstalks around. It got dark and the seats would move down from the pressure of the alien when it was behind you, and you could feel it breating on your neck. I agree it was out of place at MK, even in TL. I think it would've done better had it been at MGM. It was just too scary for little kids and out of place in the happiest place on earth!

Actually, it had nothing to do with the movie "Alien." There is, however, a scene from "Alien" in The Great Movie Ride (at Disney-MGM Studios).

I thought the alien that got transported in was the alien from the movie. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong, it was a long time ago. We did goo on the great movie ride..it was very cool, my kids really liked the Wizard of Oz scene!

Somewhere I have video of Michael Eisner coming out of the attraction for the first time. He did not have a smiley face!

It started out kinda un-Disney when the cute little furry alien got toasted in the pre-show. The pre-show was probably the best part of the experience.

Then you went into the old "Rocket to Mars" theater, some space noise and lights, then it went dark. Then you could hear noises and shouting, as the Alien escapes. There was some heavy breathing on the back of your neck as "IT" roamed the theater, and then a spray of liquid that represented blood spurting from a crew member that was being torn apart. Anybody else remember that?

Although this might seem exciting and appealing to someone who had never been there, trust me, it was a yawn! Plus, not even a good place for a nap because of all the noise!

If you never saw it, you didn't miss anything! It was out of place in the Magic Kingdom...

I have a vivid imagination and it went into overtime in this attraction! I was on an end isle seat and I swear that the "thing" that got loose was after me and only me! All it took was for me to feel the foot steps and then the breathe on my neck and I was trying to get out of the harness thing that holds you down!

I was in tears by the time the bars let me out and I know I was the first person out of the place. DH was waiting with our small child outside. We did ride share and he went first! He said he was a terrible bore! I was scared out of my mind!

I am glad it is gone! I would have never gone back in there! :earseek:

I was terriified on this ride and couldn't WAIT To get out of there. I am a big baby, can't handle those things.

I'm glad its gone... it didn't have any magic as far as I'm concerned, and seemed a little out of place at the Magic Kingdom. I hope the Stitch one is a bit tamer =)

I am so pleased to hear that someone else was frightened by this attraction! My family thinks it was so lame and tease me non-stop about being frightened by it. Give me Tower of Terror any day but keep me away from the footsteps and heavy breathing!

:wave2:

Thanks for all of the information everybody, and thanks for the link dbail2!

I am pretty sure I could not have handled this ride!

I think to summ it up for me was that it was a pretty cool ride and slightly scary in a psychological way the first time you ride and then it was uneventful after that. I hated the pre show when the cute fuzzy thing got zapped. Looking forward to stich!
