What Walking Shoes Do You Prefer for WDW?

I bought some Keen Newports yesterday. Strange looking sandals, but very comfortable and waterproof. And the salesman told me to throw them in the washing machine if they get dirty!
$85, but if my feet don't hurt at the end of the day, they will be worth every penny!

www.cabelas.com has Keen Newports on sale for 49.95. They also have Keen Jamestown slide, which is the one that I purchased on sale for 44.95. I love them! Cabelas shipping was prompt also.

I bought my Keen Newports in a store. I have to try everything on. mine were $85, which seems to be the going price. Mine are Kiwi. They also have some kind of light blue, charcoal and brown I think. You can at least look at them on line.
I have mine on right now and I'm lovin' them.

I like Birkenstock sandles, although when I wore them last summer in Spain they got wet and started to rub . I also love Converse All Stars (The low tops) they come in a variety of colours and i've always found them to be very comfy.

I am the absolute blister queen (or is that blister princess ).

Every pair of shoes I've ever owned have given me blisters if I walk a lot in them....and I mean LOTS of blisters. And, I'm so incredibly blessed that I have some kind of funky chemical makeup that moleskin won't even stink to me! There are a few other blister pad products that I can get to stink long enough, usually, to make it through the day. I just have to lay out a small fortune to get them....but, back to the shoes.

Tevas have been a God-send for me. I get exactly one blister on each foot now in a completely managable location. So my vote for the parks is Tevas. I got some Chacos a while back and I got some Crocs recently so I'm excited to try those out in the parks when we go in August.

Has anyone tried the Land's End sea-to-shore shoe? They have a mesh upper to allow water drainage and air circulation. The sole and treads are like a sneaker. Plus, DW, DD, and DS1 like all the color choices. They're only $30 for adults and $20 for kids. So, it wouldn't be a huge waste if they turn out to be a disappointment. But, I'd love some feedback (before I spring for 4 or 5 pair) if anybody is already familiar with them. Also, how are they without socks?

I think they are meant to be worn without socks. I bought a pair but I wasn't impressed. They run very large so I got a blister without socks.

But maybe they'd be good with socks but then it defeats the purpose of being waterproof and sea to shore!

If you have a Sears nearby, they sell the Land's End shoe so you could go and try them on. I tried them, but did not like the fit. Also, Walmart has something very similar.

I have never been a sandal person. I have always worn sneakers if walking is involved. I did however find a perfect pair of Rockport (flip flop type) of sandals. Last summer I wore them on the plane with the intention of changing into my sneakers before we went to the park. I forgot to change them & ended up wearing them all week! Totally comfortable. Problem is they don't make this exact style anymore & I'm afraid to spent all that money only to find out it's back to not liking sandals. But if you usually like sandals IMO Rockports are worth the $.

I am 21 so slightly obsessed with how the shoe looks, but I have found the most comfortable shoes for walking to be the adidas shelltops (superstars) or I have an awesome pair of DC Shoes. My mom swears by New Balance sneakers.

My family always wears our Tevas,because they are breathable, comfortable, go with just about everything and don't take up alot of space in the suitcase.. I also bring my Merrils from LLBean to switch off.

I'm looking at shoes for our next WDW trip in October (want plenty of time to break them in!)... I have an idea of what I want for good sneakers, but do you all have any good ideas for shoes/sandals for the heavy WDW walking?

Only your feet can say for sure. Go ahead and get people's opinions, but remember that everybody is different. In the end listen to your feet.

sorry to jump on, but I was just wondering if any of you have ever tried the Teva Guide Pro sandals? I just ordered some from REI.com to try out. They are advertised as water shoes and appear to be similar to the Chaco Z1 sandals, which I have heard are great ...I just can't let myself pay $95 for the Chacos. Any reviews on the Teva Guide Pro?

I'll start by saying I've got really bad feet. I have to wear orthodics, which limits my shoe options (no sandals). SO - I wear a pair of hiking boots that lace up the ankle from LLBean. I've had then for 4 years and I'm only now retiring them (and I wear them EVERY DAY and walk over 1 1/2 miles a day). I also have a pair of New Balance Corsstrainers. They took some getting used to, but both are great. The New Balance only lasted about a year.

This is so funny that I decided to read about what shoes to wear. A few weeks ago I bought a pair of saucony running shoes. Love them. Don't do well with real thin socks though I got a blister the other day. I found that golf socks are great. They are renforced in the heel. I play and ya know they have great golf sandels which are meant for a lot of walking and you can just take out the rubber spikes. The other funny thing is I went shopping today and came across a Teva store. I almost bought a pair. I think I will go back.

I prefer sandals vs. sneakers (can't see wearing socks and weighy shoes in warm climate). However, whatever you were, break them in well before doing the walk at WDW.

Is there "really" a break in time for GOOD shoes?

Since we have been dealing with podiatrist and regular PCP about foot issues, I brought this subject up. Said, if they are WELL fitting shoes, (fitted properly) you shouldn't need to break them in.

Has anyone else had the experience of NOT having to break in their shoes? I just have never owned a pair of shoes without needing some break in period, but now have two Dr's tell me that's not so, if they are proper fitting shoes.

Do I just not know how to buy decent shoes??

I got my pair of SAS sneakers about 10 years ago and did not have to break them in,,,,i know,,i know the thing is that I don't wear them every day. But for WDW i still plan to bring them and the other pair of sneakers and also trade socks and use powder
