I'm just exploring options. I was going to partner my March FLL cruise with a Vero Beach stay, but the resort is going to be having outside construction. Since I am traveling all the way across the country, I'd like to add something, but it has to be really good, to the overall vacation.

I am still exploring the idea of Vero Beach or a side by side cruise or a few nights at WDW. For overall convenience, I am also open to just staying around Fort Lauderdale or Miami or whatever else is nearby. Have you done anything amazing in the area? Emphasis on amazing. 😃

Plenty of beach options, but definitely going to be more crowded in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale; no way to avoid that.

Could go out for a nice dinner the night before the cruise.

Tons of nightlife if that's your thing.

We've been to Fort Lauderdale a couple times recently. There's a nice beach, fun restaurants. There are some neat boat rides (Jungle Queen or Water Taxi). I have also heard good things about Everglades tours but we couldn't fit it in. My husband and son went parasailing and had a great time.

I would say do an Everglades airboat ride/tour, the Everglades is a unique ecosystem. In Miami the alligator farm has a good one and in Broward it’s a bit of a drive but the miccosukee Indians have a fun place that you can go out in a swamp buggy tour and airboat, along with an animal show. My kids have all went here on school field trips.

The Jungle queen is also a fun ride through the intracostal where all the multi million dollar houses are along the waterway, there are two options one is just the boat ride or there’s ones that have a bbq dinner on their island.

Hollywood beach is great it’s not as hectic as south beach and it has a beach broad walk with shops and restaurants along in and you can rent various bikes to ride. There’s a bandshell with live music on the weekends in the evening near the margaritaville resort.

In Miami two unique places are:

Vizcaya is also a beautiful place to spend the day and pack a picnic lunch, is on Biscayne bay. It has a beautiful home and a ton of gardens to walk through.

Coral Castle it’s a mystery how one man moved and built these giant coral stones to build the place. It’s been featured on ancient aliens show. It’s a couple of hours to tour not an all day outing. There’s a great bbq place around the corner called Shivers we like to go to when down in that area. Alligator farm is further down the road from there so you could pair the two.

There’s so many great restaurants all throughout Miami and Ft. Lauderdale that if you are a foodie it’s another option to eat your way around south Florida.

Keep up n mind that March is spring break season and Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach are top destinations for that.

Personally I prefer the beaches on the other side of Florida and Naples is an easy drive across Alligator Alley.

I think the best attraction in the area is the Everglades NP. Such a unique eco system.
