what type of transportation do I need?

This August, my wife and I are planning a major vacation to WDW for a total of 12 family members. Now I know you are asking if I may be Clark W. Griswold, but that answer is 'no' (or at least I hope not...)

All together there will be 8 adults and 4 children under the age of 5. I have been reading and it sounds that the most economical way to go is with one of these limo services. So my question is this: what type of vehicle do I need? I am wanting to have a grocery stop and we may be bringing a stroller or two, and I am assuming that will alter my needs for the size of the vehicle I am to request. Please forgive my ignorance of such matters and I put myself at the mercy of this board for recommendations of vehicle and potential companies to consider.

Thank you in advance
Jess

I do not know the answer to our question, but I will throw out a couple of thoughts for you.

First - the strollers, I assume they fold up no larger than a suitcase - so they are just like another piece of luggage, should be no problem.

Twleve people together would require a large limo. Question the company that they will make a grocery stop with a large vehicle - I know most do with a towncar, but am not sure about a full or strech limo.

How many days is the trip? If it is short it may be more economical to rent two minivans. If you can split 6-6, I'd check combinations 2 Towncars, two minivans, or 1 towncar and one minivan. Someone in the group may what to leave WDW during your stay, one rental car would provide flexibility.

Good luck, have a great family trip.

With a group that large your only option might be the van that Tiffany offers. We did that in August with 7 people (4 adults, 3 kids - 2 1/2, 7, 11). Car seat was supplied. Plenty of room for all of our luggage and stroller. We did not make a stop at the grocery store but I understand that they will.

Not sure if a standard van or limo would be able to accomodate 12. There are services out there that do offer the larger 12 passenger vans, with a small luggage trailer. Luggage is very important to consider, as 12 persons worth of luggage probably wouldn't fit very well into a limousine trunk.

Just throwin this out, some companies (ie. http://www.happylimo.com )have Hummer Limo's that can seat up to 20. ;) They also include an extra vehicle for luggage.
Happy Limo says they offer a 15 minute grocery stop. Just a word of advice read all the fine print with Happy, because I believe they put driver gratuity into the cost.
For RT airport transfer to/from Disney hotels it's around $450. Which isn't too bad.
We're probably going to rent this in December when we have some family heading down with us.

I posted a reply to a similar question. My family has a Grand Gathering planned for this December for 14.

So far, what we've found out is that for the airport transportation, we'll need two vehicles to accommodate all our luggage and the 14 people. Some companies have said we can use one luxury van and one towncar whereas others have said we need two luxury vans. For Universal Studios transportation, a handful of places offer a 14 passenger van. So far, the estimated total for round trip airport transportation and round trip Universal Studios transportation for two days is running between $430-600.

We're looking at companies such as Tiffany Towncar, Mears Transportation, FL Tours, Interplex Transportation, Happy Limo, Quicksilver

If money were no object, I think we'd love the HUMMER limo!! We could all ride in one vehicle and it would be a blast. Unfortunately, the pricing for that is way out of our range!

Good luck.

I had 11 people in a van from Tiffany Towncar. You shouldn't have a problem putting in one more. It may be a little tight, but you will be ok. That will cost you $100 with the $5 off coupon. To that you will have to add a tip. Figure on $10 or $15 each way.

If you want more room then get a van and a towncar. This will cost $190. You will have to add a tip for two drivers to that.

For one van your looking at $130. Thats with a $15 tip each way. About $11 per person.

For a van and car your looking at $250. Again with a $15 tip for each driver each way. Thats about $21 per person
