What type of tickets should I get?

Going for six nights, will be going to parks, water parks, etc... It will be DH, myself, DD 10 & DD 7. I didn't want to go with a package because if codes come out I would like to try to apply one to my reservation. I also will have disney points to spend so I want to be able to apply them at check in. With a package I would have to pay for it before we even get there. One other factor is we still have 2 park hoppers each with 2 days and 1 plus one each, not sure if we will use this or not, since it is short atleast a day from what I would get for the other three.

Please help! I'm getting so confused!

How about 2- 4day park hopper plus passes and 2- 6 day park hopper plus passes?
I hope I understood your scenario!

Yes, but you can also get them at the disney store too. That is how I do it.

You can buy the park hopper passes at your resort but I don't believe Disney sells a 4 day PHP, only a 4 day PH (someone more knowledgeable than me can confirm this). More importantly, I don't believe Disney will put them on your room key anymore unless you buy them as a package. Also, when you buy them at your resort you lose the advanced price discount.

I'd try the online ticket brokers mentioned on these boards and www.mousesavers.com. Many of them sell a 4 day PHP and they usually are cheaper (for all PHP tix) than Disney.

Why not just upgrade the 2 2-day PHPs when you get to WDW? Disney will apply the value of the 2 remaining days on each to the purchase of 2 new adult 6-day PHPs. You would then just need to purchase additional 6-day PHPs for your DDs.
