What type of printer do you use?

I just discovered this forum last week and am new to this wonderful world of creativity. As suspected, my husband about had a heart attack when he saw the things I'd like to print for various projects. We have an HP ink jet printer. Our model of color ink cartridges run around $30. He's right when he says most of the projects will eat up a ton of ink, which will result in us going through an expensive ink cartridge very quickly. So before I embark on any projects...
1. What model of printer do most of you use? (You all are the experts, so I thought it wise to check and see what you all use.)
2. Are there ways to offset the cost of the ink?
3. How do you manage to print big projects like the Epcot passport so that it's not so expensive printing at home?

Thanks for the help!!!

I have two printers. I have a new one I bought as I thought my old one was going. My new one is a HP Photosmart and it eats expensive ink. I do my autograph cards on it and went through quite a bit of ink. I also have an HP 720C, which is still going strong. I was able to do 4 of Natalie's Epcot passports and never changed the ink. I still had ink for shirts. So I think it is according to the printer I think. What some people are doing is uploading the file and having it printed by kinko's, staples, etc.? Sometimes the company won't print it because of Disney copyright, and sometimes they will print it? :confused3 Penny:hippie:

Thanks for your input. I'm just trying to look for ways to make it more affordable so I can create more projects. Otherwise, my husband is going to be the project/printer police (and rightfully so--it will eat a ton of ink and get expensive quickly). We weren't sure if buying a more expensive printer wasn't the key to the answer. We were thinking the initial purchase might be more expensive, but in the end if it didn't cost as much to print it would pay for itself. ????? Not sure, so I turned to you guys the experts. Anyone else care to share what printer they use or how they curb cost of printing?
